=== zul [~chuck@zul.developer.gentoo] has joined #ubuntu-devel
mdzlamont: yes, but in this case it's terribly confusing for users12:25
Josephusmdz: and yes, i was wrong about ipw210012:26
mdzJosephus: you pretty much implied that we didn't do autoconfiguration of X, which is a bit disparaging toward the people who put a huge amount of time and effort into doing exactly that12:26
=== tklauser [~noone@80-218-108-101.dclient.hispeed.ch] has left #ubuntu-devel []
ograJosephus: for 99% of the users the autodetection of X works out of the box ;)12:26
lamontmdz: we could create a 'stuff-we-dont-believe-in' suite that is just past the multiverse, and is source only.... :-)12:27
sivangJosephus: especially on crappy dell laptops :)12:27
ograsivang: thats the missing percent ;)12:27
mdzJosephus: at any rate, I followed up with instructions for how you can help get it working on your hardware12:28
sivangogra: we shoudl have a "ubuntu is rocking" site for good testimonials 12:29
mdzJosephus: but in the future, it generates more good will to look first, before saying that something is missing :-)12:29
Josephussorry i didn't wanted to be sound like i despise your work, i just haven't looked into that such thing really exists :/12:32
lamontmdz: if we do, it should be kernel-patch* kernel-image-* and kernel-source-*12:33
mdzJosephus: if the probe fails, it asks you questions instead12:34
mdzJosephus: so in your case, it sounds like your hardware was probed successfully, but for some reason the resulting config wasn't correct12:34
mdzcould be buggy hardware, or something else12:34
ogramdz: do you think its ok to put a link in the java wiki page pointing to davyds java package ? (http://wiki.arslinux.com/Ubuntu#Java_1.5)12:36
mdzogra: anything and everything having to do with Ubuntu is OK for the wiki12:37
ograok, i was fearing the legal stuff...then i'll do it now :)12:37
sivangogra: very good package, gave it a test drive and the 3 steps remedy works quite well.12:38

mjg59There's going to be fuzz in the Kconfig and Makefiles02:00
fabbionefuzz is not an issue :-)02:00
mjg59The driver itself should be fine, it's just that the surrounding stuff in the configs is going to have been changed by ibm-acpi being added02:02
fabbionethat's not an issue :-)02:02
Treenaksfabbione: how about http://hem.bredband.net/ekmlar/vt1211.html (the patch has some makefile rejects, but easy to solve)02:05
