[05:01] mdke: pong [05:01] carlos, do you have time for a chat in #ubuntu-doc? [05:02] mdke: Can we delay it a bit, I want to answer all mails I have about that (and other user support ones) [05:02] carlos, yes of course, lemme know when? [05:03] mdke: sure [05:03] and thanks [05:24] carlos, man you are organised with your email [05:24] why do you say that? [05:25] i am just impressed that you don't miss them, even if they pile up for a while [05:26] mdke: I had to review all my mail so I don't miss anyone. That was last week. [05:26] we are improving the user feedback now [05:27] so we should answer mails in time instead of after a month (or even later) [05:30] heh [05:35] carlos, thanks for all those replies, but i think it might be easier to iron things out in irc, shouldn't take long [05:36] ping me later if you have time, or else we can arrange to meet another day [05:36] mdke: let me finish a task I'm doing now and will join the channel to chat [05:36] ty [05:36] I don't think it will take more than 30 minutes [05:36] great === bradb [~bradb@MTL-ppp-144647.qc.sympatico.ca] has joined #launchpad === carlos [~carlos@69.Red-80-33-181.pooles.rima-tde.net] has joined #launchpad === carlos [~carlos@69.Red-80-33-181.pooles.rima-tde.net] has joined #launchpad === bradb [~bradb@MTL-ppp-144647.qc.sympatico.ca] has joined #launchpad [10:02] carlos: ping [10:02] superted: pong [10:04] carlos: i see that alot of gnome stuff is in rosetta (mostly without accomodating .po files though). is there a plan to ensure co-operating between gnome-i18n and rosetta so that stuff isn't translated twice? [10:05] superted: if there are .po files missing, it's because the import failed, we are looking into it but that means usually corner cases that should be fixed one by one, so it will take a while until all is fixed. Please report any missing file you are aware of. [10:06] about the co-operation ... we cannot do anything more than ask our translators to send the changes to the GTP [10:07] we don't have the resources to track every translation project [10:07] and send every update they do there [10:07] carlos: hm, maybe i'm wrong. what i did was i searched for 'gnome' and checked stuff like this: https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/rosetta/products/gnome-terminal [10:07] ooh, that's old stuff [10:07] ok [10:07] we moved all those [10:07] into Ubuntu [10:08] so it's clear that is not upstream who translate gnome-terminal using rosetta (unless they ask us for it from a GNOME translation team) [10:08] superted: all translations from GNOME are imported into Rosetta [10:09] but the missing part is from Rosetta back to GNOME, that should be done by hand [10:11] carlos: doesn't ubuntu get it's .po files from the GTP when you make packages? [10:11] if so the missing part get's kinda important [10:15] superted: yes, we get them that way [10:16] superted: and yes, I know we are missing some translations [10:16] and for you next question... Yes, we will improve it so we don't miss anything in the future, but it takes some time to have "the perfect" system [10:18] carlos: yeah i know you guys are busy at it, i apreciate the work, just a little concerned about stuff being translated in two places since it's alot of work doing it in one already :) [10:18] i'm sure it'll all work out nicely [10:18] superted: the main solution is get both team work together [10:18] GTP + Ubuntu translation team === carlos -> dinner [10:20] one problem with rosetta is that we don't & can't know who's doing translations... [10:20] so we can't contact everyone... [10:23] JanC: you can get the list from URLs like: https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/distros/ubuntu/hoary/+sources/evolution/+pots/evolution-2.2/es [10:23] JanC: we need to add there the emails or at least the link to launchpad.ubuntu.com/people/ URLs, that's true [10:23] JanC: we will fix that soon [10:24] that sounds good :) [10:29] hm, can 'persons' be merged ? [10:30] JanC: yes, some time back rosetta made 'persons' of all the mails and names etc that was listed as a translator in a .po file, i *think* [10:30] JanC: anyway, you can now merge all that info into one person now [10:31] ah, I'll look how to do that then (I'm listed 3 times) [10:34] JanC: funny, i can't seem to find the page [10:34] JanC: carlos can surely tell you where to go when he get's back [10:59] https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/people/+requestmerge [10:59] There is a link at https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/people [11:17] if I understand correctly, I should log in into the account that will disappear after the merge? [11:19] JanC, no, you should log with the account you want to keep [11:20] it would be good if you could tell us what piece of text made you think you should log with the account that will disappear. [11:29] I think because the dutch equivalent of 'duplicated' can have two meanings, I'm not sure that's also true in English [11:30] carlos, merci pour le quickguide [11:30] sorry i was on the phone [11:30] mdke: np [11:30] and those 2 meanings mean almost the opposite of each other :) [11:31] I think it would be best to say something like: "log in into the account you want to keep and then give the other account" :) === Kinnison [~dsilvers@haddenham.pepperfish.net] has joined #launchpad
