[11:17] All that clicking through is pretty harmful to my helpfull mood, not to mention the fact that I couldn't care less about all those different templates, strings, or packages. :P [11:20] Now I get presented with a bewildering list, and the few random things I clicked on all had pretty good coverage in Dutch, so I just wasted 10 minutes. [11:29] you want a list of any packages that don [11:29] t have complete Dutch translations? [11:31] No, I want to raise the piont that there is no simple way to dump me right in the action if I have a few minutes to spare. [11:31] I get bothered with all kind of stuff I don't care about, when I just want to help. :P [11:32] I'm perfectly capable of running through the lists to find something, in fact I'm translating now, but it's a bother. [11:33] imho I should be able to set a preference that I care only about English to Dutch, for instance, and then only see the packages which need that kind of love. Besides that, After logging in I should be presented with a button to go straight to some random set of strings that can use love. [11:34] ah, I see [11:34] a quick translate button [11:34] for coffee breaks [11:35] It makes little sense to provide people who are looking to help with the broad overview per package as is done now. That is only of interest for those who are responsible for getting the translations up to par. The majority of users would just care about 1-3 languages, and would presumably rather not flick through lists to check if packages are all right, but rather just get presented with those where he'd be useful. [11:36] just my rather bluntly-presented 2 cents. :) [11:37] that is perfectly good use case [11:37] The way you present information now is suited for power users, documentation-goofs, maintainers and other in-the-loop kind of personnel. [11:38] yes [11:38] how about a big button that says "Quick translate" or something similar [11:38] after you have logged in [11:39] Good start. :) [11:39] that takes you to any application that doesn [11:39] t have translation for the languages you can translate [11:39] Right on. [11:40] ok, I will file a bug [11:41] https://launchpad.ubuntu.com/malone/bugs/112 [11:41] what about this bug? [11:41] Not userfriendly enough [11:41] adding a comment [11:42] A general lesson of life is that if you want help, the best way you're going to get it if you get rid of every single obstacle and bump in the road you can think on. [11:42] of, even [11:43] read my comment on it [11:43] also a good idea is adding ideas to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/RosettaWishList [11:45] mdke, you know those 2 views taht I found? they are no merged [11:45] now [11:46] mdke, be my guest, i don't have a wiki account. :) [11:46] HiddenWolf, yeah you do [11:46] burgundavia, check my comment [11:46] mdke, do I? [11:46] HiddenWolf, authentication account is the same on launchpad as for ubuntu [11:46] oh. [11:47] Burgundavia, you mean /rosetta and /distros/ubuntu/hoary/+translations? they are the same as they were from here [11:47] ugh, why isn't that bug-comment option threaded [11:47] I replied to your comment, and now mine is listed above yours [11:48] yes [11:48] Burgundavia, oh i c [11:48] that is a bug in malone [11:49] Burgundavia, the stuff on /rosetta is still upstream looks like [11:50] Hell, I'll be back later, when I'm not tired. [11:50] This stuff has potential. :) [11:52] HiddenWolf, :) [11:52] mdke, just be aware that potential doesn't make it good. :P [11:53] ideas = good === HiddenWolf fondly remembers the discussion in #evolution about evolution being an unfriendly bitch due to not checking pop-mail at startup. :) [11:53] mdke, who do you work for? [11:53] ? [11:53] blam currently doesn't check at startup [11:53] i am not employed right now [11:53] which is crazy [11:53] ah [11:53] y? [11:53] also unemloyed [11:57] later guys
