[04:37] yay...i made my first commit to the product at work... [04:37] eheh [04:37] how much did you break? [04:38] at first? a couple of things..:) [04:39] and then ? [04:39] and then...a couple of more things until i beated it into submission [04:41] ehehhe [04:41] kind of like what i do for ubuntu stuff [04:43] ok.. i am off for today [04:43] cya tomorrow guys [04:44] toodles === JaneW [~JaneW@196.36.161.235] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === JaneW [~JaneW@196.36.161.235] has left #ubuntu-kernel ["Leaving"] === karlheg [~karlheg@host-250-237.resnet.pdx.edu] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === HiddenWolf [~hidden@136.204.dynamic.phpg.net] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [08:27] Does anyone here know if the lirc modules are inside the ubuntu kernel? === `crimsun [crimsun@66.188.193.145] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [08:38] crimsun, do you know? [08:39] <`crimsun> erm, I have no context, so forgive me if I don't know what you're asking [08:40] I was asking if the lirc modules should be in the ubuntu kernel. [08:40] <`crimsun> for Warty, Hoary, or Breezy? [08:40] Hoary [08:41] I'll upgrade to Breezy if they're there tho. :) [08:43] <`crimsun> I see nothing in amd64's generic config on Hoary that leads me to believe they're included [08:43] Would it be a problem to include them? [08:43] at least in breezy? [08:44] <`crimsun> well, they won't go into Hoary since it's frozen === HiddenWolf just got a remote, and isn't a big fan of kernel recompiles [08:44] <`crimsun> what version are you looking at? [08:45] <`crimsun> note that there's version 0.7.0.1-1ubuntu1 of lirc-modules-source in hoary/universe [08:46] I haven't installed those yet. [08:46] <`crimsun> you should be able to compile it if you have build-essential, module-assistant, and linux-headers-$(uname -r) installed [08:46] <`crimsun> you don't need to recompile the kernel to add lirc support. Just compile the kernel modules externally using the above method. [08:47] yeah, that's my piont. I don't enjoy installing all that build-etc stuff. :( [08:47] <`crimsun> if you have additional questions, let's move this to #ubuntu [08:47] my question was, would it be possible to consider it to build them by default? [08:49] <`crimsun> if you can verify they'll build using just those config changes in the current one, I think it's possible. It's not my call, however. [08:50] <`crimsun> make sure you read the topic here. [08:51] crimsun, so if I decide to build them, can you give me a step by step rundown? haven't done a build in years... === HiddenWolf switches to #ubuntu [09:41] Can I beg anyone's help here? :S === karlheg [~karlheg@host-250-237.resnet.pdx.edu] has joined #ubuntu-kernel
