VindevogelI wanted to download j2sdk from tux.org12:12
VindevogelSeems it needs libc612:12
VindevogelThe version shipped with kubuntu is lower12:12
Vindevogelcan i simply take the version from debian testing ?12:12

Vindevogelthat one is just one version higher 2.3.2.21 instead of 2.3.2.2012:13
torzhmm hi, I have some weird problems with my system fonts. I did "apt-get install msttcorefonts" to get Windows fonts but in return *all* my fonts look very jaggy (as though it has no anti aliasing)12:14
Vindevogeltorz: i have similar problem with the normal fonts, seems like they are jaggy when the font size is lower than 1212:15
Vindevogeluse the "plastik" theme for a second, it puts them on 12 and all looks fine again12:15
VindevogelAnybody alive here caring to answer my question on Debian ?12:16
torzVindevogel: yep Plastik is what I usually use, 12 eh12:17
torzI'll give it a shot12:17

ilba7rdepend on your needs11:46
Kyaneoskicker top menu is moved on KDE, has somebody the same problem??11:46
Kyaneosplease11:46
jatosI just wondering11:46
jatosI decided to try fluxbox and xfce11:47
jatosand I have to say... fluxbox in my opinion sucks11:47
ilba7rhttp://xwinman.org/11:47
ilba7rhere you will find a list of the most common ones11:47
ilba7rmm the one compiled in ubuntu is a little bit slow11:48
ilba7rbut also depend what you want do you want a fast window manager11:48
jatoswhich one did you compile in ubuntu11:48
ilba7ror an attractive one11:48
ilba7ri did not compile any11:48
ilba7ri am just a user like you11:48
jatosoh btw, it would very easy to argue that the window manager is actually x-free and the gui is what most people call the window manager11:49
ilba7rsorry i am not that knowledgable as i said i am just a user :)11:50
jatoskk11:50
jatosno worrys11:50

ilba7rwelcome back11:57
ilba7rif you want really fast window manager you have to try openbox11:57
jatosI like XFCE its got all the advantages of fluxbox as far I cab, plus i11:58
jatosit easier to use11:58
ilba7rsorry i hated it11:58
jatosok11:58
ilba7rgnome is much more elegent and openbox much faster11:58
ilba7rby the way in gnome i run openbox instead of metacity which make gnome fly too11:59
jatosmetacity?/11:59
ilba7rthats the default gnome window manager11:59
ilba7ras u know gnome is a desktop environment and metacity is its window manager11:59
jatosactually i didn't know that but now I do12:00
ilba7ri guess you use rox-filer with xfce12:01
ilba7rdoes it support emblem12:01
jatosright now I completely confised, rox-filer?12:01
ilba7rthats the file manager12:02

ilba7rso why not use kde with konqueror than12:03
jatoscurrently I have four guis on this pc, gnome, kde, fluxbox and xfce12:03
jatosbecause I like the XFCE's interface but prefer KDE's file manger12:04
ilba7rand you do not like nautilus (gnome file manager)?12:04
ilba7rits the best i used so far12:04
jatosI am not too kean on it, i think konqueror is more powerful12:05
ilba7ri agree its a matter of taste 12:05
jatosyep, I have to say I find the extra features of konqueror very handy indeed12:06

apokryphosit would bridge the gap more between the "external root account" which Ubuntu is all-for (and rightly, IMO). 03:32
jjesseRiddell: did you decide on adept?  i sent you an email about it for the kubuntu docs03:33
apokryphosjjesse: hey, you didn't make the meeting yesterday :)03:33
jjesseapokryphos: i couldn't due to work lots of crazy stuff hapening and the meeting was during work :(03:34
nikkiaDaDave: you can look around for 'rdesktop-srvr' its a shim that offers an rdp connection, which is then routed to a vnc session03:34
apokryphosIt did take pretty long to get rolling, too, unfortunately.03:34
apokryphosnikkia: aloha!03:34
nikkiaDaDave: you could use that to offer rdp access, by setting it to connect to kde's vnc, locally03:34
nikkiaafternoon apokryphos03:34
thoreauputicapokryphos: heheh.... 03:34
DaDavenikkia: hmm interesting idea. thanks!03:34
apokryphosthoreauputic: hey :)03:35
apokryphosnikkia, thoreauputic: how are you both today? =)03:35
nikkiatoo hot, and annoyed with work :P03:35
thoreauputicapokryphos: I'm fine, got some sleep ;)03:36
Riddellapokryphos: sounds good, but I'm not sure how it could be achieved03:36
apokryphosnikkia: hot indeed, great stuff :P. My other brother is in a room and has  along sheet over his head as the sun is beaming down03:36
apokryphosthoreauputic: nice :)03:36
Riddelljjesse: no decision yet, but adept is getting more likely03:36
Riddelljjesse: have you tried it out?03:36
jjesseRiddell: yes i have it is simple to use, better then kynaptic03:37
apokryphosRiddell: just make it so that sudo takes the user's style/fonts? Point it to whatever the user's using, no?03:37
jjesseRiddell: so are we at the point that i can make the changes in the docs to reflect adept?03:37
apokryphosIt's probably good to wait till Adept beta at least -- but it's looking more preferable, IMO.03:37
apokryphosRiddell: I'm sure it could be a case of "easier said than done"03:40
Riddellapokryphos: if you are running a program as a different user you can't even read the ~/.kde of the original user03:41
Riddelljjesse: probably yes03:41
apokryphosRiddell: if you are root you surely can03:41

Riddelland that doesn't seem very clean somehow03:51
apokryphosRiddell: not sure that I see the problem. kdesu only uses root/sudo, and we're talking about it taking the styles for a user; not other user's getting other users' styles. What am I missing?03:53
Riddellapokryphos: kdesu runs as whichever user you tell it to03:53
