[12:29] yea [12:29] blackbox or flux are nice [12:30] haven't tried flux yet - on breezy they have conflicting packages. i'll get to it eventually though. [12:30] so what'd you all think of jdub's last email? [12:30] *looks* [12:31] oh [12:31] the october calender pic [12:31] mhh [12:31] in the one right before that i got the impression that they were going to use their own artwork. then he sends out another one a few days after our deadline asking if we have any calendar artwork ready for october. doh! [12:32] not too involved in the calendar stuff [12:32] not even sure what theme we are using for the calendar pics [12:32] you guys didn't make any decisions without me? i've been kinda dead the last week or so. [12:32] no [12:32] none === klepas is sad [12:32] k. [12:33] school resumes on monday :( [12:33] means next to no time for my net activities [12:34] well, kamstrup and i put a ton of time into voting on cool backgrounds, so i sent our favorites list to jeff - but that's about all we had considering we thought we were off the hook with breezy. [12:34] yea [12:34] you don't by any chances have a link to the logs? [12:35] handy anywhere there...? [12:35] what i'm thinkin', and maybe ogra can help us with this eventually, is to put together an "ubuntu-artwork-extras" package for universe until we have a nifty app for ubuntu that pulls stuff off art.ubuntu.com. [12:36] ummm..... not handy. lets see.... what window manager am i using? [12:38] i don't know how to do multi window chats in this client. if you go into #ubuntu, you should see the link to their logs. ours are in the same general location - just named ubuntu-art or something. [12:38] wait..... i might have it.... [12:39] here's where ALL the logs are http://people.ubuntu.com/~fabbione/irclogs/ [12:39] cheers [12:39] we're ubuntu-artwork [12:39] (obviously) :) [12:40] :) [12:40] i really like the idea about packaging our own little thing in the universe repos. [12:40] :) [12:40] But I also have another issue i want to raise [12:40] what's that? [12:41] for now, just with one person [12:41] I didn't like the art-web system [12:41] lacks a lot of functionality [12:41] I am exploring installing the CMS that GNOME-Look uses [12:41] and installing that on my server [12:42] make it fully functionall [12:42] add a few items already found in AUC [12:42] and then open the ports [12:42] and show this to the art team [12:42] give the current admins of AUC admin access [12:42] yeah. i kinda know what you mean. we were in a rush to get a site up, and theirs looked cool - unfortunately we didn't really know how it worked behind the scenes. [12:43] and see what people think about perhaps putting this sort of CMS on AUC [12:43] well then we should really change soon [12:43] because the more we use the art-web system the more dependant we will make ourselves [12:43] and the more work a change will be [12:44] i don't know if we'd be able to get canonical to switch at this point or not. one of the big deals with that AGO code is that it's backend easily ties in with the gnome-art app (and presumably other apps, although gnome-art cvs versions already can access our site). [12:45] yes [12:46] i know that KDE has made an app that interacts with KDE-look [12:46] namely their wallpapers [12:46] i can click on my desktop, go tot configure and click "get more wallpapers" [12:46] very handy [12:46] gnome-look.org is almost overkill, but i agree that ubuntu's popularity may be more than our current system can handle. it requires lots of adimin time. [12:46] I am sure this would be easily changed to include more things [12:47] that is what annoys me the most [12:47] and the GNOME-look type CMS is so much more powerful [12:47] yeah. that's what gnome-art does - with wallpaper, themes, icons - you can preview, download and install right from the app. [12:48] yea, i've seen that [12:48] it's alright [12:48] we could easily adapt some of the code which KDE uses to interact with KDE-look [12:48] for AUC, if we used the same CMS [12:49] well, except most of ubuntu doesn't use kde. ;) [12:49] but the backend stuff, yes. :) [12:49] adapt [12:49] GPL code [12:49] i'm just giving you a hard time. :) [12:49] wouln't be to hard to adapt and get working in a GTK environment [12:49] :) [12:50] i'm tired and sore and slap happy. :-P [12:50] anyway.... === mpathy [n=mpathy@ACB346E6.ipt.aol.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork [12:50] because in my opinion it comes down to: The art team are an art team, not a coding team, or a team that wants to spend forever administrating a site. We need something easy, powerful and userfriendly [12:50] yeah, i feel your pain about the website. we should at least bring the issue up when we have our first post-breezy meeting. [12:50] yea [12:51] right. i agree. [12:51] :) [12:51] i spent so much time doing admin stuff as "team coordinator" that i had to stop making art altogether. [12:51] same [12:52] bleh. [12:52] and when school resumes monday i'll have next to no time [12:52] you can do like me and go to starbucks for espresso right before they close every night. ;) [12:52] hehe [12:52] i could [12:52] starbucks are here in down under too [12:52] there is one in civic [12:53] very nice place [12:53] but i'm no where near around that area usually [12:53] so the perculator at home will have to do :D [12:53] i swear. every starbucks in a 10 mile radius starts making my quad espresso for me as soon as they see my car pull in the parking lot. :) that's how much espresso i drink. [12:53] we've got an expresso machine here as well :) [12:53] lol [12:53] down under? are you an aussie too? [12:54] Yep [12:54] Canberra, the capital [12:54] Andy is up north [12:54] cool! i want to visit there some day. the more people i know there, the better. :) [12:55] cool [12:55] Yea, our clug is full of cool hackers and devels [12:55] i feel very inferior [12:55] nice. [12:55] right amongst the stars: Andrew Tridge, Brad, and a few others [12:55] Andrew Pollock [12:56] Drew Parsons [12:56] *ggg* [12:56] Andrew Tridge fathered Samba [12:56] :) [12:56] i need to visit my lug. they were all excited to hear that i was "the art guy" and i haven't been able to make a meeting since then. oops. [12:56] nice. [12:56] lol [12:57] When you come to Canberra, come to the CLUG [12:57] much fun [12:57] will do! [12:57] talks, chats, install fests, bycle rides around the nearby lakes [12:57] pizza. [12:57] and lots of other cool places to visit [12:57] Canberra is awsome :) [12:58] ahh, i miss riding my bike. (i'm preparing for a spinal fusion in november). ugh. [12:58] yea, i know [12:58] sounds nasty ever since i found out [12:58] that's why i disappear for days at a time. drugs are bad kids. :-P [12:58] {{{shudders @ the thought of the pain}}} [01:00] it'll be ok. i have a great doc. he's doing a "not quite a fusion" surgery, which means faster recovery time, more flexibility, and less to go wrong. i feel good about it. [01:00] but on that note, i hurt like hell right now, so i'm going to go drug up and go to bed. [01:01] have a good one mate [01:01] if i miss the meeting, talk about the website for me. :) [01:01] g'night man!
