chaoticgeekthe only thing thats not the same is the uid={nugget}05:39
chaoticgeekhere it is/dev/hda2       /datadrop       vfat    defaults        0       005:39
chaoticgeekso just add the uid=[nugget] 05:40
LeeJunFanokay, if you add the uid=nugget that will make you the owner when you mount it.05:40
LeeJunFanthat should do it.05:40
LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: of course 'mount -o remount /dev/hda2' after05:40
LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: np, now if you do 'ls -ld /datadrop' you should see that the dir is owned by nugget.05:41
chaoticgeekstill says root owns it and I cant save anything to it05:42
chaoticgeek/dev/hda2       /datadrop       vfat    defaults,uid=[nugget]         0       005:43
chaoticgeekthis is what that line looks like now: 05:43
chaoticgeekand I did the mount -o remount /dev/hda205:43
LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: sry - no [] 's05:43

chaoticgeekok I replaced default w/ user, and got the same thing05:50
chaoticgeekthen I removed user to leave uid=nugget and got the same thing still05:50
LeeJunFantype 'mount | grep hda2'05:51
LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: and lets see what that says for options.05:51

chaoticgeekmy uid is 100005:52
LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: then that's right.05:52
LeeJunFanif you ls -ld /datadrop now?05:52

LeeJunFanchaoticgeek: I wonder if remount isn't working right, try actually unmounting it with umount /dev/hda2 && mount /dev/hda205:54
dreampingthere are no links in the dir /etc/rc2.d/ about "lvm raid " etc.05:54

LeeJunFandreamping: yeah, lvm CAN work on a plain old non-raid ide drive. It just allows for dynamic resizing of partitions, so if you formatted your drive with LVM you could shrink root and grow /home while the machine is running.05:59
