hazmati have a server that seems to be flaking out an update...02:42
hazmatit was giving this error message W: Couldn't stat source package list http://archive.ubuntu.com breezy/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_breezy_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)02:42
hazmati've copied over that file from another server which operates fine.. however now apt-get update .. returns Get:4 http://archive.ubuntu.com breezy/main Packages [769kB] 02:43
hazmat99% [4 Packages gzip 0] 02:43
hazmatgzip: stdin: not in gzip format02:43
hazmatErr http://archive.ubuntu.com breezy/main Packages02:43
hazmat  Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)02:43
hazmatFetched 4B in 1s (4B/s)02:43
hazmatFailed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/breezy/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz  Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)02:43
hazmatReading package lists... Done02:43
hazmatE: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.02:43
hazmatnever mind.. removing main from the sources.list, running apt-update.. and then adding it back in.. seems to have fixed the problem02:44

nsilvais there something used on Ubuntu systems that can do incremental backups from the command-line?06:41
morrowapt-get install dump06:45
nsilvaokay no prob... since that is in universe i thought maybe there was an equivalent command that was built-in or in the main repository06:47
morrowwell not that i know of, but i was used to dump/restore before so i didn't looked for anything else. :)06:48

pivibig questione, why ubuntu server com with default useless package? (alsa, for example ..)10:58
piviI can remove them removing ubuntu-minimal or ubuntu-something, but I don't wont to get trouble when upgrading the distro ..11:00

MikeNpivi, you can remove them ignoring the deps, which will probably cause you no trouble with upgrading, but the extra packages don't really matter imho, they only waste some diskspace11:11
piviyes, I know11:11
