alleeHi, a Sun X4100 server (and laptop) 'hang' for serveral minutes in * Hardware detection and activation' in the early boot sequence.  Any hint to get a bit more information than just [failed] 06:53
allee... and who set /dev/null to mode 660?  Pretty new problem ;)06:53
alleethis is with uptodate dapper06:54
fabbioneallee: try to be sure that udev is updated and that your initramfs is updated07:01
alleefabbione: udev is uptodate: 079-0ubuntu3,  and initrd.img-2.6.15-14-amd64-k8 has date of installation07:23
fabbioneallee: run an update-initramfs with proper parameters07:24
alleefabbione: fyi: installation went without problem. But reboot failed: I had to add disk and ethernet drivers to /etc/initramfs/modules and rebuild from th07:24
fabbioneyes there is something broken with the latest udev07:24
alleefabbione: okay ...07:24
alleefabbione: installation was last thursday.  Today the first upgrade.  The delay during boot is not new, at least a week old.  Only /dev/null 660 is new07:27
