[12:14] isn't suppose to be setup from the start or is there something that i am missing? [12:14] gtek, see the install notes from the channel topic [12:16] ogra , where are they located? [12:16] on the wiki ... try /topic [12:17] orgra, have you setup the server for use with thin clients? [12:19] yes [12:21] orgra, once you setup the edubuntu server was the configuration complete? [12:22] nope, it isnt directly set up ... you need do one step, see the link in the topic of this IRC channel, it describes it [12:37] ogra, poke [12:38] Seveas, peek [12:39] ogra, I saw your car today: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/i8815 [12:39] hehe, cool :) === mhz is now known as mhz_cook === ..[topic/#edubuntu:ogra] : The discussion channel for Edubuntu - the education version of Ubuntu, download: http://releases.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/5.10/ | Mailing List http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-devel | Wiki: http://wiki.edubuntu.org | Website http://www.edubuntu.org | MEETING: 15 Feb at 12:00 UTC | Read before installing: http://wiki.edubuntu.org/EdubuntuInstallNotes| http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/dapper/flight-4/ === ..[topic/#edubuntu:ogra] : The discussion channel for Edubuntu - the education version of Ubuntu, download: http://releases.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/5.10/ | Mailing List http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-devel | Wiki: http://wiki.edubuntu.org | Website http://www.edubuntu.org | MEETING: 15 Feb at 12:00 UTC | Read before installing: http://wiki.edubuntu.org/EdubuntuInstallNotes | http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/dapper/flight-4/ === ..[topic/#edubuntu:ogra] : Edubuntu - the education version of Ubuntu, download: http://releases.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/5.10/ | Mailing List http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-devel | Wiki: http://wiki.edubuntu.org | Website http://www.edubuntu.org | MEETING: 15 Feb at 12:00 UTC | Read before installing: http://wiki.edubuntu.org/EdubuntuInstallNotes | Flight 4 it out ! http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/dapper/flight-4/ [01:12] sorry for the noise === mhz_cook is now known as mhz [05:00] ogra: the devil evil [05:00] http://www.paul.sladen.org/junk/img/scary-paul-49pc.jpg === jdumont [n=jdumont@216.187.78.202.novuscom.net] has joined #edubuntu === jdumont [n=jdumont@216.187.78.202.novuscom.net] has joined #edubuntu [05:13] Heres what I did.... I installed Ubuntu from the cdrom. Then someone in #ubuntu gave me a command to get edubuntu vs. having to download the edubuntu iso.. Is that all there is to it? Do I have exactly what I would if I burned an edubuntu cd? Thanks. [05:16] jdumont: who told you that? [05:16] jdumont: if you already have ubuntu installed, then there are 2 options: [05:17] a) install edubuntu-server and edubuntu-desktop on top of your current ubuntu [05:17] i got it in the ubuntu channel [05:17] example: sudo apt-get install edubuntu-desktop edubuntu-server [05:18] But if you only want/need the edu applications, [05:18] the only edubuntu-desktop [05:18] sudo apt-get install edubuntu-desktop is what I typed in. [05:18] jdumont: what is exactly you are looking for? [05:19] jdumont: then , you only got edu-applications, no LTSP environment [05:19] i installed ubuntu but wanted to explore the whole edubuntu terminal server concept. [05:20] i was in the midst of downloading a 650mb edubuntu iso when i asked the question in #ubuntu.... then someone gave me the command. [05:21] then after i rebooted, i have the edubuntu looking desktop and apps [05:22] so "now" i was just asking if what I have is what I would have if I installed edubuntu fresh. thanks. [05:23] nope [05:24] then you only need to install edubuntu-server now [05:24] sudo apt-get install edubuntu-server like that? [05:24] that will provide the LTSP environment [05:24] yup [05:25] so I've gone from ubuntu > edubuntu-desktop > edubuntu-server. [05:25] LTSP... I'll have to look that one up.
