jlundAh, on my setup the HD is the 1st SATA and the primary drive.09:36
jlundATA is for DVD-R09:36
jlundThat sounds like a pretty obscure setup. Any particular reason why you are doing it that way?09:37
m0ns00nNo09:37
m0ns00nBecause I don't have the physical possability to make it the primary drive09:38
jlundI don't understand09:38
m0ns00nIt's the 1st SATA09:38
m0ns00nBut that's the 3rd Master in bios09:38

m0ns00nI dunno what I did, only upgraded the kernel09:38
jlundOh, well then that is interesting09:39

m0ns00nBut I doubt it's the hw09:41
jlundThis sounds like a hardware issue to me09:41
m0ns00nThat's easy09:41
m0ns00n:-)09:41
jlundFirst of all I have no idea why your motherboard would be laying out your drives in that manner.09:41
jlundI've NEVER heard of ATA getting priority over SATA09:41
m0ns00nOh?09:42
m0ns00nI only heard about that09:42
m0ns00nOur SATA pcs at work also has it like that09:42
m0ns00nIn fact, we boot with a regular ATA disk, and then no problems09:42
m0ns00nI see this error all over google09:42
jlundSecond of all I've been running Ubuntu AMD64 for almost 6 months now and I haven't had any crashes or stability problems whatsoever09:42
m0ns00n /dev/sda1 doesn't exist09:43
m0ns00nIt said there that the sata kernel module hasn't been loaded yet or something like that09:43
m0ns00njlund: That's your unique experience. We had alot of trouble at work09:43
m0ns00njlund: In fact, the dual core AMD64 is running on one core, as it gets random reboots if not09:44
jlundI'm not claiming it to be anything else09:44
jlundI'm just saying that hasn't been my experience at all09:44
m0ns00nOk09:44
m0ns00nAnyhow, if you didn't have any problem to fix, the you probably don't know how to get around the problem that has risen09:44
m0ns00nThis is a pretty wierd problem09:44
m0ns00nThat it can't see my disk, when the rescue system logs into it just fine09:44

fatejudgerthere has to be some way of fixing this sound problem in Dapper11:55
fatejudgeris there anyone who is using the latest Dapper here?11:56
Marrssry, not me11:56
fatejudgerdamn11:56
pvhfatejudger: I am, what's your problem?11:56
Marrsjust switched to kubuntu from Gentoo, so I thought I'd try the "stable" version first ;)11:56
fatejudgerpvh: are you able to run multiple sound streams?11:56
pvhfatejudger: you mean play sound simultaneously in multiple applications?11:57
fatejudgerpvh: in other words, are you able to mix your sounds together?11:57
fatejudgerpvh: yes11:57
pvhfatejudger: hmm, i'm not sure. let me check. i do use two soundcards.11:57
fatejudgerpvh: you use both of them?11:58
pvhyes.11:58
pvhfatejudger: I _had_ found a really nice .asoundrc which set everything up nicely. Too bad I lost it when my hard drive crashed.11:59
fatejudgerthat sucks11:59
fatejudgerI'm wondering if dmix isn't enabled or something12:00
fatejudgermaybe they changed that12:00
pvhfatejudger: I'm not sure. My laptop, also running Kubuntu, definitely mixes sounds properly.12:01
fatejudgerpvh: so does mine, but it's running Breezy12:01
fatejudger"It's a shame that software mixing isn't enabled on Ubuntu by default."12:02
fatejudgerthat's on the wiki12:02
fatejudgerI think they changed it in Dapper or something12:02
