kwtm1simian__: There's a setp-by-step guide on the web somewhere --I forget where it is.  Anyway, first you see if you can see your own web page from your own computer (go to http://localhost), and then try it from a different computer.12:06

FHXHey all, how do I install windows in linux? I wish to have a dualboot but I don't want to have to reinstall everything from the beginning. Is there a way to create a partition and install windows from linux?07:48
fatejudgerFHX: I have no idea what you mean by that07:49
FHXOkay07:49
FHXI mean right now I have Kubuntu07:49
fatejudgerFHX: you're going to have to be more clear07:49
FHXAnd I want to have windows as well07:49
ipfwFHX:  there are two options (really), you can either install windows in a virtual machine (vmware), or you can make another partition, and DUAL Boot07:49
FHXis that possible?07:49
FHXYes07:49
FHXHow do I make the second partition?07:49
FHXfrom Linux07:49
ipfwFHX:  The Dual Boot Option is covered at tldp.org07:49
fatejudgerFHX: if you install Windows you're going to have to fix grub07:49
ncallerFHX: step #1 backup your important data07:50
FHXfatejudger: Please explain..?07:50
fatejudgerFHX: use QT Parted to create the new partition07:50
fatejudgerFHX: then decide whether you want to emulate or dual boot07:50
FHXOkay I am *very* new to all of this, so instructions on how to do backups etc. would be great. Sorry for the trouble07:50
fatejudgerFHX: depending on how much RAM you have07:50
fatejudgerFHX: if you don't have that much, you should dual boot07:50
FHXfatejudger: Emulate means..? I'm wanting to have both linux and windows together07:50
ipfwthe 2nd partition wont be made from linux, you will just make sure there is free space, and use that free space to make the windows partition (after booting from the windows cd)07:50
FHXDual boot probably07:50
ncallerFHX: can you install a second Harddrive?07:50
FHXipfw: Hm..yes but currently I have the full space on the linux partition, so I will have to resize?07:50
ncallerthat is going to be the easiest way for you07:51
FHXncaller: Nope07:51
fatejudgerFHX: yes, use QTParted07:51
FHXI don't have another one07:51
FHXfatejudger: Okay, so I use qtparted from a livecd to resize my linux partition?07:51
fatejudgerFHX: make sure you get a Linux live CD07:51
ncalleryes07:51
fatejudgerFHX: you don't need to use it from a live cd07:51
FHXOkay, I don't remember the name of the partition though07:51
fatejudgerFHX: just make sure you get one07:51
fatejudgerFHX: so you can install GRUB back on07:51
FHXfatejudger: wait..install it back on? i don't want to delete it..07:51
fatejudgerFHX: that's the reason for the live CD07:51
fatejudgerFHX: ok listen07:51
fatejudgerFHX: step one07:51
fatejudgerFHX: make a new partition with QTParted07:52
chavoyou can use the install cd to run fix grub also07:52
fatejudgerFHX: step two07:52
fatejudgerFHX: get a Live CD07:52
fatejudgerFHX: step 307:52
fatejudgerinstall Windows on the new partition07:52
fatejudgerFHX: step 407:52
fatejudgerFHX: install GRUB using the live CD07:52
fatejudgerFHX: you won't have to back anything up07:52
fatejudgerFHX: nothing will be deleted07:52
FHXAhh..07:52
FHXOkay07:52
fatejudgerFHX: does that make sense?07:53
FHXDo you remember the name of the partition I must resize?07:53
FHXYes07:53
fatejudgerFHX: it depends on your machine07:53
FHXIt makes sense except for the grub part07:53

nrdbHi, I have installed a CUPS printer (ip1500) it is a color printer but I would like the option of doing grayscale prints, does anyone know how to do this?12:55

cyberserverDo you face problems browsing sites where there are dynamic layer menus and flash, where the menus are not shown because the get behind the flash movie?06:04

cyberserverI face this problem on lots of sites... with all browsers, konqueror, forefox, opera...06:04
tchizecyberserver: yes06:04
tchizecyberserver: i think that's because the flash plugin gets considered as part of something like an iframe06:04

frank23sredna|dapper: maybe you'll have to delete one partition and create it again.   4 primary max. many logical partitions possible11:15
_mindspinonly if you use extended partition as partition type11:15
sredna|dapperone of the partitions is a very small /boot partition, i could copy that into the place i use for root11:15
_mindspinthat could be a way but you have to install the bootmanager in the mbr then afaik11:17
