carlosseb128: yes, upload it without setting the 'published' flag06:23
carlosRiddell: yes, it's done automatically06:24
seb128carlos: k, I'm thinking to do that for the whole GNOME for the french translations...is that a good idea? :)06:24
carlosseb128: that will give karma to the GNOME translators and I guess you should agree it with the other team members06:25
carlosseb128: other than that, I suppose is ok06:25
seb128carlos: right, but we have enough "rosetta lower level of translations" complain upstream and to the Ubuntu list06:25
seb128that will probably make people happy for dapper06:26
carlosseb128: take into account that if the .po files you are going to upload has untranslated strings and Rosetta has translations for them, with that use case, you will disable those translations too (will remain as suggestions, but you will leave them empty(06:26
seb128carlos: why?06:27
carlosseb128: you should then start removing permissions from people to keep bad translations out of Ubuntu...06:27
Dizietmvo: ping06:27
seb128carlos: and if the upstream po doesn't contain those strings at all?06:27
Dizietmvo: I tried that updated Thai patch and it makes it segfault on startup so I think I'll leave it out.06:27
seb128carlos: easy to say :)06:27
carlosseb128: because we cannot know if you decided to remove it or not, if it's an upstream upload, we keep it, if is not an upstream (published) upload, we do exactly the same as what we do if you use the web form06:28
carlosseb128: an easy workaround is to remove the msgid without translations, that will not touch the current translations in Rosetta06:28
carlosseb128: this last phrase is the answer to your last question06:29
carlosif it's not there, the translation is not touched06:29
carlosseb128: yeah, I know it's easy to say, but the problem is that people see Ubuntu's translation teams like usual translation teams and they are QA translation teams06:29
seb128k, thank you06:29
carlosyou don't need to belong to the team to contribute translations06:30
seb128carlos: the issue is that they don't do only QA06:31
seb128carlos: is gedit .po is to 60% it's likely to be completed to rosetta first because GNOME guys wait for string freeze usually06:31
seb128carlos: and then work is duplicated because we have no easy way to send those 40% to upstream06:31
carlosyou can download the .po file and send it...06:32
carlosbut yes, I agree that we need better procedures for that use case06:32
seb128carlos: diff of .po is ugly, having a page listing what is different between upstream and rosetta with boxes 'use upstream translation' would be nice06:33

I don't have time to do the downloading and converting exercise during next week, and I'd like to give the translators as much time as possible to get things finished. Do you think I could do it friday/saturday of next week? Or must I do i09:29
carlosKamion: the ubiquity .pot file is now imported09:29
carlosKamion: and include a Spanish translation as a present09:30

Kamionmdke: that's fine - the deadline is primarily to make translators aware that that's how long they've got09:32
Kamion(dinner not *quite* ready yet, as it turns out ...)09:32
mdkeKamion: thanks a lot09:33
Kamioncarlos: cool, thanks a lot. How come the existing pt_BR.po doesn't show up? (Maybe you imported 0.99.78 rather than >= 0.99.79 ...)09:33
carlosKamion: any existing translation could take some extra time to be imported09:33
carlosfirst time, we import the .pot file and then we automatically import other .po files09:33
Kamionok, fair enough09:33
dholbachhave a nice weekend09:37

nix4mei have posted bug 43303 and so far noone has confirmed it. Its still set as needs info.  I believe this bug should be confimed and set to priority HIGH because it is certainly a show stopper for the upcoming release. It involves the inability for Ubuntu to share a printer have Windows computers print to it.  I have spent alot of time on troubleshooting and posting information and there are several people who have agreed thus far. I hav10:04
nix4mee also been unable to find a workaround. Any help would be greatly appreciated.10:04
UbugtuMalone bug 43303 in cupsys "cupsys can no longer share a printer to windows" [Normal,Needs info]  http://launchpad.net/bugs/4330310:04
pittinix4me: right, I'll mangle the bug a bit; I still don't now the reason, but I agree that it should be fixed for dapper10:04
nix4mei would gradly help, but ive done all i can do. Ive tried everything10:05
pittinix4me: milestoned and bumped priority10:05
nix4meok thanks10:06
nix4mehopefully we get a fix before my wife needs to print10:06
nix4me:)10:06
pittinix4me: still, I don't have any windows machine around here, it'll take me some time to fix this, so help is greatly appreciated10:06

pittihttp://www.cups.org/str.php10:07
nix4mei can try10:07
pittinix4me: that would be great10:07
nix4mewill they look in launchpad if i leave the bug #?10:07
pittinix4me: yes, you should give them an URL to the launchpad bug10:08
pittinix4me: but still, please include the relevant information in the STR10:08
pittilike log output, your setup, etc.10:08
nix4meok, ill give it a shot10:08

ivokspitti: oh, i tought this is something else10:10
pittiivoks: nix4me's one is for printing from a windows machine to a cups server10:10
pittiivoks: the samba bug breaks printing from a cups client to a SMB printer10:10
ivokspitti: yeah, i know (i tought this is that bug)10:10
nix4menope10:11
ivokswell... i have windows print to my cups (over IPP)10:11
ivoks1.1.9910:11
nix4meoh yeah?10:11
nix4meive been trying for days10:11
pittiivoks: does it still work with 1.2.0-0ubuntu2? (or whatever is current in dapper)10:11
ivokslet me test 1.2, i can do it in few minutes10:11
nix4methat would be great10:12
nix4memaybe i have a setting horked that ive overlooked10:12
pittinix4me: there are too many duplicates of that bug to make me believe in a configuration problem10:13
pittisomething about printing raw binary streams seems seriously broken10:13
pittiprinting PostScript etc. seems to be just fine10:13
pittijust not binary blobs (as windows clients will do since they usually have the printer driver on the client)10:14

nix4mewell i agree, but it wouldnt surprise me.  I had this working on my debian 'etch' machine but i had a different probelm, the access log was getting hammered 2 timers per 5 seconds10:14
pittinix4me: that's a different bug, it was solved in dapper, and I also fixed it in Debian experimental10:14
ivoksgrrr... we have another bug in cups10:14
ivoks- no default printer by default :)10:15
pittinix4me: that was gnome-cups-icon polling cups every other second, and the default logging settings made it appear in the logs10:15
pygiivoks: fix it :P10:15
pittiivoks: *sigh*10:15
pittipygi++ :)10:15
ivoksok :)10:15
