eimajenthathowdy, I'm using th Kubuntu liveCD and I'm having a little trouble accessing my hard drive where my regular linux installation resides01:04
eimajenthatI get an error, le em see if I can find it01:04
eimajenthatsays: can't find /dev/hda2 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab01:05
eimajenthatnow I sorta know what that means, but I don't understand why it is01:06
khaije1eimajenthat: if you open konqueror and go to media:/ do you see the partition there?01:07
eimajenthatyes01:07
eimajenthatit calls it 53G or something to that effect01:07
eimajenthatI click on it and get that error01:07
eimajenthatit shows unmounted, and then tries to mount01:08

khaije1so you would need to add a line that would look somethign like this at the end of the file....01:09
eimajenthatI thought the liveCD magicated it01:09
eimajenthatis this a malfunction, or is that just not a feature built into this liveCD?01:11
khaije1eimajenthat: i think it does sometimes, you just need to add this to the end of /etc/fstab to garuntee it will work     /dev/hda2   /mnt/my_drive  auto users,rw01:11
eimajenthatlivable01:11
khaije1that should get you working, you can get extra info w/ 'man mount' if yr interested01:12
eimajenthatyeah, I've done a little of that01:12

eimajenthatyeah, I mounted it, it's fine now01:16
eimajenthatI want to see linux take over the world, and I see Ubuntu doing a lot of what I think needs doing, frequently before I figure out it needs doing01:17
eimajenthatthis is something they might oughta work on, although it probably doesn't matter once you install01:18
eimajenthathave you used Ubuntu and Kubuntu extensively?  which is faster, in general?01:19

eimajenthatbut you start with a really great setup01:25
eimajenthatooh, I might!01:25
eimajenthatI think I saw that config, I'm using Dapper, but it might be the same01:26
eimajenthathold on, lemme check01:26

DrBairstoft: I guess that would probably be a kded thing. I doubt there is an option to change that behavior though01:55
DrBairstoft: one option would be to write a udev rule to give that device a special node name01:55
DrBairstoft: or simply do a symlink, but thats kind of ghetto01:56
stoftespecially since a symlink will "break" if I load the usb externals in a different order... :(01:56

DrBairstoft: with the udev rule you can make the device always show up as the same device node which would fix that problem01:57

khaije1sudo is a different concept, if you can get used to it you'll really like it07:51
p33kabo0ok ...but can I build file with sudo then ?07:52

rafkkathman: well, is there a paranoid effect in KDE?08:15

kkathmanbasically, you create 3 panels at the bottom (at least I do), the basic main panel you shorten up and put only say the clock and maybe the task panel08:16
kkathmanthen create a second panel, position it at the bottom, configure it to popup when your cursor touches the bottom center (this is done in the kcontrol settings )08:16
kkathmanand if you want, create a third panel and locate it at the far left :)08:17

LeeJunFancfraz89: how do you get the kde-window-decorator to work?02:20
LynoureI don't know anything about compiz... but why is it always shown as a cube? would't a huge cylinder work better?02:20
LeeJunFaneverything I've read says it's broke, when I tried it didn't work. And using the gnome one breaks all kinds of stuff like taskbar, systray, etc.02:20
cfraz89oh you cant use kde-window-decorator02:21
LeeJunFancfraz89: right, so it doesn't work well with kde :p02:21
cfraz89but if you use a newer compiz from other repos the gnome one works fine in kde02:21
cfraz89with working taskbar and systray and stuff02:22
cfraz89the one in ubuntu repos is 0.0.602:22
cfraz89you can get 0.10 now02:22
LeeJunFancfraz89: ah, what repos? I'm running the newest dapper.02:22
cfraz89add these ones:02:22

cfraz89deb http://www.beerorkid.com/compiz/ dapper main02:23
Ahmucki was going to try plone last evening, however i am getting an error in adept02:23
LeeJunFancfraz89: sweet, thanks.02:23
cfraz89if you upgrade xgl and compiz from here, dont forget to upgrade mesa aswell02:23
cfraz89np02:23
LeeJunFanI wonder why they don't just update the one in the dapper repos? it's not like it's stable anyway, may as well keep it current even though dapper is frozen right now.02:24
cfraz89i dont know02:25

ajross_yeah Shouryuu_ - i would advise the same as Gringo  - drivers are better in Dapper than Breezy06:06
ajross_however, we can try this first06:06
macdI don't really agree with that statement06:06

macdCisco06:10
gringojust plugged in06:10
iNikuI've heard of that before, some people had that problem with the new macbooks06:10
macdwindows side does the same, if I use the cards drivers the AP will die, if I use the generic atheros driver its fine06:10
iNikuand several kinds of (generally cheapo) access points06:10
macdyeah well this one definetly wasnt cheap :/06:10
macdreverse that statement on windows.06:11
gringohmm KNW has discovered my accesspoint using the atheros chipset06:11
iNikumacd: sounds like the AP sucks, which is a little weird for Cisco... although Cisco stuff has been known to be extremely compatible, as long as the other equipment is Cisco too06:11
macdI never had a lick of trouble till dapper, the ndiswrapper with proxim drivers worked flawlessly06:11
iNikumacd: have you checked for firmware upgrades for the cisco?06:11
