[09:16] I need to find a hardware designer at sun to have a little chat with them about their choice of windtunnels, er.. fans. [10:21] thanks guys [10:26] Brad_: :) [10:32] yeah... fabbione and discussed that... kind of hurts the desktop appeal ;-) [10:33] tmarble: ? [10:34] you know.. your T2000, 16 display Xinerama, higher productivity workstation (until the Ubuntu brain implant is available ;-) [10:35] hhehe [10:35] yeah === ChanServ [ChanServ@services.] has joined #ubuntu-ports [10:38] you'll be glad to know I did do a successful install based on the (final) boot.img ... [10:38] eheh nice [10:39] Brad_: we also found the bug for our 8GB t2000 [10:39] the real bug [10:39] but I'm wondering if it might be useful to have a more "minimal" boot.img -- you know that has just dpkg, coreutils, openssh-server (etc.) [10:39] and we are discussing a fix [10:39] tmarble: you want the server cd for that :) [10:39] tmarble: otherwise you need to pass a long option to the tftp image [10:39] but it works both ways [10:41] hmmm... you mean an option to OBP? [10:41] http://sunsolve2.central.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-48569-1 [10:41] no an option to boot net $option [10:41] e.g. ok boot net - install toms-minimal-system [10:42] tmarble: exactly [10:42] that url is not available from the outside of SUN [10:42] arghhhh [10:42] probably has a public equiv... hold on [10:44] didn't find the args in question on ... http://doc.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/install/i386/ch04s05.html [10:44] sure.. i am going to watch a movie and crash [10:44] tmarble: ok hold on a sec [10:44] it's not that simple :) [10:45] {0} ok boot net base-installer/kernel/linux/extra-packages-2.6= pkgsel/install-pattern=~t^ubuntu-standard$ pkgsel/language-pack-patterns= pkgsel/install-language-support=false [10:45] there [10:45] note that's all in one line [10:45] i wish it could have been done simpler.. [10:45] but not for dapper [10:45] we will fix it for edgy [10:45] anyway i am off for real [10:46] take care guys [10:46] ok.. have a nice evening (and a fun movie!) [10:46] sorry, the doc above is apparently only available to Sun Support customers (I'll see if it's published anywhere else) [10:47] tmarble: ok thanks [11:01] fabbione: I'm interested to see the new fix [11:02] Brad_: it's unlike we will see the code of the fix. It's a bug in the OBP on it handles the e1000 in the t2000 in netboot. The bug did never show up booting from CD and there are other interesting patterns like ethernet frames in that portion of RAM that is "corrupted" [11:02] but anyway.. [11:02] movie [11:02] for real :) [11:03] moooovie! [11:03] sweet! I love bugs like that. [11:18] uhe ciao [11:18] ops
