[02:14] <spike> I have a few boxes running ubuntu+customized kernel running vlans without probs, then this box with dapper + linux-image-2.6.15-23-server which dies from time to time

[02:14] <spike> sendin any packet from the inside or ssh'in from the private ip will resurrect the box
[02:15] <spike> I was dumping traffic and there's nothing abnormal going on, nothing in the logs either, it really seems to just die for no reason

[03:08] <spike> it's like fw -> GB switch -> box, the switch is fine, I've got other boxes plugged in there
[03:08] <fabbione> it can be the firewall it self. I have seen similar stuff in totally different environment
[03:08] <fabbione> i had to keep a ping up from a box because the wireless card was "going to sleep" otherwise
[03:08] <fabbione> and it was not playing vlam
[03:09] <fabbione> (hw issue.. not driver)
[03:09] <spike> the card is an e1000, kernel support for it should be just fine, I have similar boxes running with no probs
[03:09] <fabbione> the fw might have arp problems with the vlan?
[03:09] <fabbione> no arp -> cuts the traffic
[03:09] <fabbione> arp from inside everything goes fine
[03:12] <spike> mmmh, havent checked arp from the fw, I'll look for it, ta
