[04:58] makx: What sort of patches? [04:58] Emailing them to me and Scott is probably good [04:58] mjg59: minor fixes atm [04:58] makx: Ok [04:58] To which area? [04:59] some bogl stuff, some usplash stuff [04:59] mjg59: ok will email. [04:59] :) [04:59] Cool [05:00] makx: But note that on x86 and amd64, we don't use bogl any more [05:00] mjg59: i noticed due to vesa switch? [05:01] Yeah [05:01] i've heard you are working on theme support? [05:01] Me? Nope [05:01] But Dennis Karsemaker is [05:02] h01ger wanted to have a restored usplash after cryptsetup pwd typing [05:03] i guess an usplash -c restart by the cryptsetup hook would do that [05:06] mjg59: also would appreciate your input on http://bugs.debian.org/380752 [05:07] makx: Looks broadly ok, but won't currently work [05:07] Since svgalib and bogl need fonts in different formats [05:07] I'll try to fix that up [05:08] ok cool [05:30] mjg59: woow i missed your last revisions [05:31] hmm could you add usplash to the list that mails to pts@packages.d.o? === Lure [n=lure@ubuntu/member/lure] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === jwest- [n=westj@83.110.124.122] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [06:29] makx: Hrm. How? [06:31] mjg59: no idea how Keybuk has set up the patch repo [06:32] i had thought that there were no usplash updates as https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-patches/ and pts not fed [06:32] would ease me to sync up with you guys :) [06:34] Ah [06:35] It started off as a package in Ubuntu, so the syncing may be a little weird [06:35] I'll ask Scott [06:47] thanks [06:47] yes also had trouble with the version string for native package === JanC [n=janc@lugwv/member/JanC] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === jwest- [n=westj@83.110.124.122] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === dilinger [i=dilinger@mouth.voxel.net] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [10:28] hello [10:28] the sata_mv in dapper is terribly broken w/ a chipset that i've got in some 1U machines [10:28] would there be a chance of getting a backported sata_mv into dapper kernels? [10:29] how intrusive is the fix? (there's a pretty good chance if it's utterly broken) [10:31] i'm not sure yet. i backported 2.6.16's sata_mv.c (no other files necessary) to dapper's 2.6.15, and it worked [10:32] i can try and figure out what specifically fixed it [10:32] that would be most helpful to Ben :) [10:34] dapper install images aren't regenerated w/ updated kernels, right? [10:34] so there would still be a broken sata_mv.ko in the official iso [10:34] well, it's unfortunate that you didn't mention this a few days ago, since the latest kernel is in the 6.06.1 images. [10:35] d'oh === makx [n=max@baikonur.stro.at] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [10:47] dilinger: I think sata_mv might be the one that's screwed on ppc64 in edgy... [10:48] actually, they look pretty similar [10:48] same version, even (0.5); just an MSI fix [10:49] some const-ness updates, and some ordered write change [10:49] jbailey: does it work in dapper? [10:49] jbailey: i have no idea how 2.6.17 fares on these machines.. [10:59] Dapper works on my ppc64 box. [10:59] Well, worked until the power supply spewed magic smoke. [10:59] (last friday, sigh) [11:05] ok, got it [11:05] it's the MSI fix [11:05] http://kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=ddef9bb367b19383df627e388cb4c01c86ddba6c [11:07] yeah, just ask ben to cherry-pick that one [11:08] BenC: ping? :) [11:18] https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/55234
