malice_ok on my laptop the two computers that tell me my networkconnection  in the top right near the speaker/ calander. Well I deleted it and now when I went to add it put it in the middle of the bar example Computer/network then a bar | then the volume setting the the calander then log out it put it on the other side of the bar and I want it back in with calander etc02:28
malice_did I make any sense?02:28
malice_:)02:28
NailorNope =)02:28
malice_ok02:29
malice_on the top bar02:29
malice_you see the two computers for networks02:29
malice_?02:29
NailorYeah02:29
Nailor=)02:29
malice_ok02:29
malice_you see how it is near the speaker02:29
NailorOr well, I'm using the network manager, but i know what your talking about 02:29
malice_or calander02:29
Nailoryeah02:29
malice_ok02:30
malice_well you see the bar that separates that stuff02:30
NailorYup02:30
malice_it will ok well I deleted the network icon02:30
malice_dont ask :)02:30
malice_when I added it back02:30
malice_it put it back on the other side of the bar02:30
malice_I want it back with the volume etc....02:31
Nailoroh02:31
Nailorweird02:31
NailorUnless those are separate applications02:31
malice_no it used to be over there02:31
malice_until I removed it02:31
NailorYou're trying to add the Network Monitor+02:31
Nailor?02:31
malice_over there not where it is now yes02:31
malice_network connection02:32
malice_you are using the network manager?02:34
NailorYup02:34
malice_whats that I am new to this kinda02:34
NailorExtremely handly tool for managing wifi connections02:34
Nailor*handy02:35
jlduggerdoes it work with hibernate?02:35
malice_Nailor is it already installed?02:35
malice_or do I need to apt-get?02:35
Nailorjldugger: Don't know, it works well with suspend so it might work well with hibernate too02:36
NailorMy hibernate doesn't work, so I can't really test :P02:36
jlduggerdoesnt work?02:36
Nailormalice_: Yeah, you need to install it02:36
jlduggermy suspend doesnt work :P02:36
Nailorjldugger: My machine doesn't come back from hibernation02:36
Nailormwah :)02:36
Nailormalice_: The package is networkmanager-gnome02:36
malice_ty02:37
NailorWhoops, network-manager-gnome02:37
malice_is it under add remove or do I need to apt-get?02:37
jlduggermalice_, but if you're just looking to move the notifcation tray, right click on the bar that seperates those things02:37
Nailormalice_: You need to use synaptic or apt-get/aptitude02:37
Nailorsudo aptitude install network-manager-gnome02:37
NailorAfter that, reboot and it should work02:37
jlduggerits sad, but the commandline is so much easier to communicate than trying to make synaptic go02:38
malice_I will try it brb02:38
jlduggeractually02:38
jlduggerits in add/remove02:38
Nailoroh. didn't know :)02:38
malice_to late02:39
malice_apt-get02:39
jlduggerits all the same02:39
malice_:)02:39
Nailorjldugger: Yeah, when giving instructions, the commandline sure is more convenient02:39
NailorThough it's not hard to say "install network-manager-gnome with synaptic" either :)02:39
jlduggerbut we always hear "this is the year of the linux desktop" and then everyone's guides and faqs say "apt-get install kerblah"02:40
Nailor=)02:40
NailorPlus using apt-get is stupid in a way too 02:40
NailorCompared to aptitude 02:41
malice_* Stopping DHCP client manager...                                       [fail] 02:41
malice_mmmm02:41
malice_it all installed just noticed that02:41
crimsun(edgy's aptitude and apt-get are much more similar)02:41
NailorYou don't have that prior installing network-manager02:41
jlduggerdhcp?02:41
NailorThat's why it fails since it doesn't have a thing to stop02:41
NailorDHCP client manager (dhcpd)02:41
malice_ok nothing to worry about then?02:41
NailorThe normal dhclient3 is there beforehand02:41
NailorNothing to worry.02:42
malice_ok when I rebot wil I see anything diffrent on this?02:43
malice_or do I need to man02:43
jlduggerhttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/NetworkManager02:43
malice_ty02:43
jlduggerso either his problem is solved, or its horribly broken02:52
