sbalneavHello!03:00
nixternali merged the ltsp-theory into its own xml file called p2-theory.xml03:00
nixternalalso, i added the ltsconf info to the p2-client.xml file for the ltsp client stuff03:00

nixternalit is all on the redneck server...work from it like always ;)03:01

nixternali have merged all of the work that was on the redneck server into the new files03:03
nixternalthey are p1-xxxx.xml for part 1 files, and p2, and p3, and p4 03:03
nixternalto understand the layout, you can view https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EdubuntuHandbook/Management03:03

sbalneavWell, there were a few pages there, but I've added a ton.03:04
sbalneavI'm still slogging through the conf section locally, bringing it in line with what's actually provided in Edubuntu.03:05
sbalneavWhat's my deadline to have things uploaded?03:05
nixternalyesterday ;)03:19
nixternalthat would be up to HedgeMage im guessing03:20
sbalneav:)03:20
nixternalit won't be to to difficult for me to merge the differences and what not, but for like new work, if you could just start with one of the pages in the C/ directory, that would rock03:20
nixternalbut, if it is to late, don't worry about it03:20
nixternali can always merge and tweak later this week03:20
sbalneavNot at all, I'll adapt what I've got.  I'm mostly done, I'll have to finish it off tomorrow.03:21

kihaiHi there! Anyone out there happen to already have tried out edubuntu 6.10 including ltsp? Any infos on how to set up ltsp 5.0?08:28
RichEdhello kihai08:31
RichEdkihai: Have you followed the manual ? And if so what problem are you having ?08:33
kihaiI didn't find a manual for ltsp 5.0. I'm using ltsp on edubuntu 6.6 so far, but just installed 6.10 beta on a second comp. Could find only manuals for ltsp 4.2 / 4.2 or muecow....08:34
kihaiSo I'm not sure if the ltsp packets in the 6.10 repos are the right ones.08:35
RichEdkihai ... it may be best to wait for ogra to come online to confirm, but I think that LTSP 5.0 is only for the new edgy release (beta for the next 2 weeks) ... if you are using LTS then you need to use the LTSP that comes on the default install.08:37
pygikihai: 5.0 = muecow :)08:38
pygiMorning RichEd 08:38

RichEdhi pygi08:38
RichEdAm I correct about v 5.0 being for Edgy only ?08:39
pygiyup08:40
kihaiI was just confused cause on the ltsp-server package on 6.10 it says it's version 0.122... Knowing that the ltsp packets in edubuntu 6.06 were not to be installed, I don't know if it's safe to use the packets now? I need to upgrade to 6.10 because of the local device access08:40
RichEdpygi: can you mail me what you have for the presentation so far .. and then we must make a time to chat ... how is wednesday looking for you ?08:40
pygiRichEd: but we used our own (muecow) implementation of LTSP anyway before edgy08:40
pygiRichEd: any day is bad :P08:41
RichEdwhen does it get better ?08:41
pygiahm, dunno...I'm sleeping less then 3 hours per day :-/08:41

pygibesides enchantments you can see in this version, configuration is practicly the same08:43
pygias I said, muecow was/is used as base for 5.008:43
kihaiSo I can just use the ltsp-server-standalone packet from the repos?08:44

kihaipygi: I've still not decided for the server. I installed it on a test machine now and want to setup ltsp 5 to see if the local device access is working. And I know that muecow is a base for 5.0, but I thought, there'd be some differences so I'd rather follow a manual for 5.0 than an old one...08:48

jsgotangcoRichEd: hey! how are you doing?01:33
RichEdquick update jsgotangco : willvdl met with mindset two weeks ago ... and they are very positive about looking at moving to ubuntu from debian-edu01:34
jsgotangcoRichEd: well that's good news to hear, but to be honest, i still have no clue on how mindset does their stuff, all i did is a code mashup :(01:35
RichEdso if we hold thumbs, it looks as if they will be making the move ahead of your needs to deploy ... and then we can get everyone on the same base from the outset of emedia's move into ICT as well as Video 01:35
RichEdjsgotangco: no problem, willvdl will be holding their hand ... and he will be able to be a bridge for you ...01:36
willvdljsgotangco, they are quite good on the multimedia side01:36
highvolt1gehey RichEd 01:36
RichEdbottom line is there is no need for you to do anything at all at the moment, other than stay in touch with willvdl to get updates in progress of the relationship.01:37
jsgotangcoRichEd: just to give you an idea, just made a code mashup of digitised video, some tests done on javascript, and pulled relevant info from wikipedia and they seem to be very happy about such a simple thing01:37

RichEdjsgotangco: crappy code can gets a lot of real life results ...01:38
RichEdsee M$ ;)01:38
jsgotangcobasically i have a simple testing script in javascript that says if you're right or wrong, if you're wrong, you're given an option to play back the relevant video explaining the concept01:39
RichEdjsgotangco: if you have any questions about mindset, you can send to willvdl (and CC me) and willvdl whould be able to table most of your questions as thiough they came from us.01:39

LaserJockblah blah08:59
LaserJockI use procmail+mutt at the moment08:59

schoolinuxHi i wanted to know some more about the edubuntu handbook, contribution and any help....09:38
HedgeMagehi schoolinux :)09:40
HedgeMageThe Handbook project is a little behind schedule ATM, we'd welcome any help we can get :)09:40
schoolinuxHi HedgeMage,09:40
=== pygi wawes to Hedgie :)
HedgeMagehi pygi 09:41
HedgeMageschoolinux: Are you familiar with subversion and/or docbook?  09:42
HedgeMage(Not required, just helpful)09:42
schoolinuxI don't have that much time, gotta study for an important exam, i read a post on ubuntu planet and now i'm here09:43
schoolinuxNo, I'm not, but i can get familiar:)09:43
HedgeMage:)09:43
HedgeMagecheck out http://svn.binaryredneck.net/handbook or the official ubuntu-doc repo... both have working copies of the handbook09:43

schoolinuxHedgeMage, Ok. 09:45
HedgeMageEven if you just work in plain text and others docbook-ify it for you, that's cool.09:45
=== HedgeMage pokes nixternal
schoolinuxHedgeMage, can you give me a brief of what kind of help is needed?09:45
HedgeMageschoolinux: as you look through the handbook you'll notice that some of the files just have lines saying "unfinished" instead of actual content.09:46
HedgeMagemost of it is just sitting down to do something, and writing (or updating) step-by-step instructions.09:46
pygiHedgeMage: after the two-exams-era-at-the-same-time I'll write a few chapters09:47
HedgeMagepygi: hehe cool09:47
schoolinuxHedgeMage, in that page, where should i go? For_Contributors?09:48
pygiHedgeMage: don't laugh, dunno how will I pull this out09:48
pygieven if I knew everything (and I know nothing) I can't be at two places at the same time :P09:48
schoolinuxhere? http://svn.binaryredneck.net/handbook/edubuntu/handbook/C/09:48
HedgeMageschoolinux: For_contributors has a file to add your name to so we know you helped (and can give you credit)... 09:48
HedgeMageyep, that's the handbook content :)09:49
=== gnomefre1k [n=gnomefre@adsl-221-42-30.rmo.bellsouth.net] has joined #edubuntu
HedgeMageschoolinux: sudo apt-get install svn       <--- that will install Subversion, which is how you can update the handbook from your computer.09:49
schoolinuxok, these are XML files, how can i handle them as readable text?09:49
HedgeMageschoolinux: I use bluefish, which still shows the code, but highlights it in a way that's easy to read.09:50
HedgeMageschoolinux: not sure about a wysiwyg editor... but if you just want to plain text it we can convert to docbook later :)09:50
schoolinuxyeah, i've used bluefish before..it's ok09:50
schoolinuxSo i can a file in bluefish, then what?09:52
=== gnomefre1k is now known as gnomefreak
schoolinuxSo i can edit a file in bluefish, then what?09:52
Burgworkschoolinux: after you edit the file, you need to create a patch09:53
Burgworkschoolinux: there is a wiki page, just a sec09:53
Burgworkhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/Repository09:54
HedgeMage:) thanks Burgwork 09:55
HedgeMageschoolinux: if you are making patches, it's easier if you do so from the docteam repo than the binaryredneck one (which is temporary and going away soon)09:55
schoolinuxok, i'll read this page.09:56
HedgeMageBurgwork: what's the url of the ubuntu-doc repo?09:56
Burgworkit will be on there09:56
HedgeMagecool09:57
schoolinuxThank you guys!09:59
schoolinuxHedgeMage:  I'll get back here next time, cya10:02

nixternaland if you are referring to the University of Miami vs. Florida game, don't include those houligans as USians, as they are just a bunch of idiots10:32

nixternalya it is10:40
LaserJockespecially stomping on people with your cleats10:40
LaserJockthat's pretty low10:40
nixternalwell, the cleats really won't hurt, but it is the thought behind it10:40
nixternalnow, stepping on fingers with cleats is a totally different story10:40
nixternalthat is why my hands are so big...they got stepped on in high school football, and broke all but 2...my hands never healed right...10:41
