[12:07] good night fschoep :) [12:08] nysosym: good nogith :) [12:08] night* === nysosym [n=nysosym@p54B7B66B.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has left #ubuntu-artwork [] === Burgwork [n=corey@ubuntu/member/burgundavia] has joined #ubuntu-artwork [12:18] what is this about new art? === Burgwork is annoyed [12:18] fschoep: why is the artwork changing at this late date? [12:19] Burgwork: master's orders [12:19] fuck [12:19] we are lucky I still have two days to change the books screenshots [12:19] Burgwork: aren't you on the docteam? [12:19] yes, I am [12:20] OK, I sent out a notification to the mailing list warning everyone not to take screenshots until further notice. [12:20] Someone replied that noone was taking screenshots. [12:21] I'm really sorry. [12:21] replying now [12:21] OK, thanks. [12:23] artwork has missed every deadline it has ever been given, in the history of the Ubuntu project [12:23] every time I get a little bit more annoyed [12:23] this time, for Dapper, I thought we were good [12:23] apparently not [12:24] I don't blame the artteam [12:24] I can understand your frustration. [12:25] I'm sorry to hear about your problems, unfortunately I can't really help you out at the moment :( [12:25] we can revert the change, which is what I would do [12:26] I'm not sure if Mark would agree with that. [12:26] yes [12:26] but if *any* other feature fails to make the deadline, it gets cut [12:26] artwork does not [12:27] I see. [12:28] Tonight, we worked very hard with the team to conform to Mark's latest wishes and I'm sure he wouldn't want us to revert everything at this moment. [12:29] it is still up in the air about whether or not I will be in MV [12:29] I understand the book being high profile as well, but it's not up to me to decide what to prioritize. I'm sorry I can't help you out much more than this. [12:29] if I am, I am going to go to bat [12:31] it is not just the book [12:31] what about other projects? [12:31] Can you tell me about some of those? [12:32] other book projects [12:32] that is the biggest one I can see [12:32] anybody doing out of tree marketing [12:32] etc. [12:32] there are a million places screenshots are used [12:33] anyway, I need to run [12:33] OK, I'm sure we'll discuss the matter again. Thanks for dropping by. [12:33] OK [12:41] troy_s: ping? [12:42] hehe, write a book about kubuntu [12:42] it has been solid for weeks [12:42] :p [12:42] sorry [12:44] kwwii: lol, you show 'em :) === PseudoPlacebo [n=Placebo@user-0ceveat.cable.mindspring.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork [01:11] kwwii, pong [01:20] imbrandon: I made a couple a logos for the website [01:21] more along the ubuntu lines though [01:36] kwwii, sweet [01:36] i just woke up, give me a few to get some food in me and stuff then i'll be ready to rock [01:39] kwwii: shouldn't you be asleep? [01:40] heya fschoep [01:40] Hey imbrandon [01:40] How do you do? [01:41] great, had some time this weekend to get the community artwork site rocking, thats what newz^2000 kwwii and me are pumping out [01:41] fschoep: yes [01:41] OK, great [01:41] mark really seemed to like it , we just have a few more changes ( mostly cosmetic ) before we go live [01:41] Fantastic [01:42] let me post the latest stuff [01:42] kwwii, okies [01:42] It sounds exciting, do you have a preview? [01:42] fschoep, ( private-ish url , e.g. no mailing list please ) but a sneak peek at http://art-staging.ubuntu.com [01:43] thats what me and kwwii are working from, he is working on a more "ubuntu" theme now ( but not totaly default ) [01:43] it andhels all the image resizine, sounds, the whole bit [01:43] Nice design, I think this is a major improvement over the old site [01:44] i'm working on better "group" stuff now, and a sound section [01:44] thanks [01:44] http://sinecera.de/pics/1.jpg [01:44] rainbow heh [01:45] you can see that I can do that effect in any color [01:45] i like the first one personaly, its close to what i did on buntudot.org before the fridge merge [01:45] kwwii: lol [01:46] the question is what do we want [01:46] I would like it to be cross desktop and there not necessarily orange-red [01:46] kwwii: should it fit in the preview's design? [01:47] i was thinking a little deeper colors , i was going to change the backgrounds to still fade like they are but match the existing site moreso [01:47] fschoep: not necessarily [01:47] yea [01:47] ( as in cross -desktop) [01:47] imbrandon: how did you make the log now? it is part of the bg? [01:47] about as long as the letters, photoshop [01:48] its really just an illusion , so it would fit all resolutions [01:48] its two seperate images [01:48] http://art-staging.ubuntu.com/themes/copyleft/images/topleft.jpg [01:48] so you coud take some transparent logo and put it on top of the bg pic? [01:49] yup [01:49] erm, nope [01:49] i have a blank one [01:49] that i can on my hdd [01:49] you have composited them in advance [01:49] infact one sec [01:49] which is not bad [01:49] but [01:50] harder to test [01:50] yea [01:50] as you have to do it every time [01:50] :p [01:50] I will send you 100 pics now [01:50] ow [01:50] test them all please and show everyone everything :p [01:50] just kidding [01:50] don't run away [01:51] I am a bitch about art [01:51] :p [01:51] hehe [01:51] http://federation.imbrandon.com/topleft.jpg [01:51] ^ blank one [01:51] gotcha [01:52] brb i'ma grab some grub, back in ~15 minutes [01:52] about time for bed here [01:52] might be asleep by that time, who knows [01:52] :p === fschoep_ [n=franksch@adsl-dc-35cb8.adsl.wanadoo.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === fschoep_ [n=franksch@adsl-dc-35cb8.adsl.wanadoo.nl] has left #ubuntu-artwork [] === newz2000 [n=matt@12-216-147-124.client.mchsi.com] has left #ubuntu-artwork ["Bye."] === Madpilot [n=brian@ubuntu/member/madpilot] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === PWill [n=paul@cpe-24-208-190-43.columbus.res.rr.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === PWill [n=paul@cpe-24-208-190-43.columbus.res.rr.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === klepas [n=klepas@203-213-31-142.static.tpgi.com.au] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === jelmer [n=jelmer@a62-251-123-16.adsl.xs4all.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === joejaxx [i=jadaz87@ubuntu/member/joejaxx] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === Ubugtu [n=bugbot@ubuntu/bot/ubugtu] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === nixternal [n=nixterna@71.194.189.213] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === nixternal [n=nixterna@ubuntu/member/nixternal] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === neopoLiTan [n=annaf@cpe-075-176-188-110.sc.res.rr.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === neopoLiTan [n=cookie@72.49.184.40] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === nysosym [n=nysosym@p54B7B3D2.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === nysosym [n=nysosym@p54B7B3D2.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has left #ubuntu-artwork [] === nysosym [n=nysosym@p54B7B3D2.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === PWill [n=paul@cpe-24-208-190-43.columbus.res.rr.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === klepas [n=klepas@203-213-31-142.static.tpgi.com.au] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === jelmer [n=jelmer@a62-251-123-16.adsl.xs4all.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === joejaxx [i=jadaz87@ubuntu/member/joejaxx] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === Ubugtu [n=bugbot@ubuntu/bot/ubugtu] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === Seveas [n=seveas@ubuntu/member/seveas] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === effraie [n=effraie@jem75-1-82-228-146-152.fbx.proxad.net] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === effraie [n=effraie@jem75-1-82-228-146-152.fbx.proxad.net] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === PingunZ [n=kristof@91.182-240-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === effraie [n=effraie@jem75-1-82-228-146-152.fbx.proxad.net] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === msikma [n=Msikma@s55933ad4.adsl.wanadoo.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === hbons [n=hbons@cc1054955-a.groni1.gr.home.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === PingunZ_ [n=kristof@249.10-240-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === fschoep [n=franksch@adsl-dc-35cb8.adsl.wanadoo.nl] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === andreasn [n=andreas@h151n2fls33o839.telia.com] has joined #ubuntu-artwork === hbons [n=hbons@cc1054955-a.groni1.gr.home.nl] has left #ubuntu-artwork [] === effraie [n=effraie@jem75-1-82-228-146-152.fbx.proxad.net] has joined #ubuntu-artwork [06:30] Hmm, the update to 6.10 seems to have changed around some of the graphics used by the "LegacyHuman" theme. [07:17] Mostly, I don't find the internal/external glows to be very attractive. === pradeep [n=pradeep@59.92.57.252] has joined #ubuntu-artwork [07:17] I think that keeping the glows either very small (in radius) or making them very transparent (maybe 10% opacity, probably less) is nice. One thing I'm certain of is that a dark outer glow is _not_ a good substitute for a drop shadow. [07:19] I'm irked by whatever logo that is in the middle. It has a shadow that makes no sense and it looks like an unfinished Tango icon resized to way past the scale it should be at.
