| Rev_Tig | Hi All, has anyone come across an machine that hangs with the phrase "Starting up ... " with a flashing cursor on the line below, this happens almost immediatly after grub, this is a clean install of 6.10 on an old p200 with 64Meg of ram, any thoughts? Install completed fine (albiet slowly :) ) It does not appear to be booting the kernel and I have tried reinstalling grub from the install / recovery option on the cd... anyone got any ideas? | 07:41 |
| Rev_Tig | it booted and loaded the "alternative CD" and that produced an almost working system apart from it had all the desktop apps on there which I did not need and filled the disk :) I got a bit trigger happy with apt-get remove and decided to wipe the lot and just bung the server version on instead :) | 07:43 |

| Rev_Tig | anyhoo, apart from the machine failing to boot the install went rather well :) Well done guys I am impressed :) Even when it dropped into low memory load it was a clean and consistant install :) The thing that I noticed (not worth a bug report) is that the discription of the UTF console encoding goes off the screen without a method for scrolling the screen... and if you have to get that anal about something then there really is nothing to comp | 08:13 |
