Maximilian1stI also have a question. This site https://help.ubuntu.com/community/forum/software/CustomKernel suggests one should install the linux-tree package to compile it's own kernel, though I can't find that package. Old docs...?10:40
kalikianaah, I searched Synaptic for any available language packages and apparently language-pack-gnome-* needs to be installed besides language-pack-*. So it must have been removed accidentally as there is no dependency. I wonder if language manager should install it if it is missing.10:42

Pekkecan someone help me: My font size seems to be different every time i start my computer & xubuntu. Settings MAnager/ display preferences:1024*768@61, user interface preferences: Font: sans12, theme:clearlooks. In firefox the font can be huge, and in Konversation it was really tiny, so what's wrong?11:43
TheSheepPekke: your system's dpi is not detected correctly, it seems11:45
somerville32Konversation uses QT not Gtk+11:45
TheSheepPekke: you can force it11:45
TheSheepPekke: open terminal and type:  echo Xft.dpi: 96 >> ~/.config/xfce4/Xft.xrdb11:45
fxryes thats it The Sheep, i was missing my panels.. it must have remembered my crashed session settings from, that messed up MTP installed.. its all sorted now.. i think ll just use windows to transfer mp3s to my mp3 device11:45

TheSheepno, xubuntu has translucency and shadows (hardware accelerated) build in11:50

Pekkeone smaller thing that bothers -which is really a minor thing, but it bothers me - is that the panel in the botton of the screen has to be like size 26, and still the xfce menu & firefox buttons are really tiny, and programs don't tile into two rows like in Kubuntu, but one program takes the whole height of the panel... but i guess there's not any simple solution to that, or can i change the width of menu button from somewhere and make12:15
Pekkethose running programs to line on two rows??12:15
TheSheepPekke: you could do that in your gtk theme, but it's an advanced thing12:17
TheSheepPekke: and I don't know the actual widget names for that12:17
TheSheepPekke: you'd probably need to look into the source code to check tha names12:18
Pekkeok, well it's not so bad, i have 12 inch laptop, so i like to use all the screen i can efficiently.. =)12:18
TheSheepPekke: get rid of the task list entirely12:18
TheSheepPekke: workspaces switcher is enough12:18

Pekkewell... i don't know, then i can't be able to see the battery status and all if i ain't got no pane in the bottom...12:23
TheSheepPekke: move them to the one at the top12:24
Pekkei took the top one off, and put everything to the bottom (menu& firefox buttons, task list, wlan monitor, running applications list, battery monitor, time12:25
TheSheepwell, you can leave the bottom one, just remove the task list from it and put some more useful things12:25
TheSheepyou can laos make it shorter, not taking up whole width12:26
TheSheepthen you always have some free space to click on to bring the menu12:26
TheSheepPekke: that'swhat I have, but it doesn't have to work good for you12:26
Pekkeyes, that i know, but it's not too much help then... i've tried the auto-hide, but sometimes it freaks and won't rise again12:26
TheSheepPekke: the point is to try different setups to see12:26
Pekkeyes, i understand.. i have to creative and try out..12:27
TheSheepPekke: I had it set to floating and almost 100 transparent for some time12:27
TheSheepPekke: worked almost like autohiding12:27
