[12:15] <blizz> i saw in several forums/mailinglists that quite a bunch of people had problems with the new bcm43xx driverbase in the 2.6.20-8 kernel (which also came with herd 4)
[12:20] <blizz> some people retrieved newer drivers from the openwrt page and extracted 4.x firmwares using fwcutter 006. sadly, the only thing which worked then was simple stuff like scanning for other wireless networks. association with a wep/wpa encrypted network never seemed to work
[12:20] <blizz> same happened here, even a hardlock occured one time when unloading the bcm43xx module
[12:22] <blizz> so, is softmac going to be back anytime soon? :P
[12:35] <st3> yes, we (the bcm43xx devs) advised BenC and mjg59 that d80211 isn't suitable for production system
[12:35] <st3> and they will revert back to softmac
