Wei jemand mit welcher gcc-Version der Kernel fr Ubuntu 6.10 kompiliert wurde? [09:50] hi [09:50] I dont speak german sorry, perhaps you can repeat in english ? [09:50] Hi! Does anyone know with what gcc-version the kernel of Ubuntu 6.10 was compiled? [09:53] the the build deps show it just wanting gcc [09:54] so probably the default -4.0 I think in 6.10 [09:55] but the wiki to my WLAN-Card says I need gcc-3.4; why is that? [09:55] I dont know [09:55] have you asked them ? :) [09:57] no, but it won't compile otherwise [09:58] normally when a gcc requirement is given, the reason for is also given... No other info provided? A bit naff. [09:59] what's the compiler output? There are a couple of bugs in gcc 4.x which pefectly valid C code can hit. Maybe this is the reason. [09:59] pkl_: it just says I need the gcc-3.4 because the Ubuntu 6.06 Kernel was compiled with that one [10:01] You say it won't compile otherwise. Have you hit compiler errors or warnings trying to compile it with a gcc other than 3.4? [10:04] pkl_: well, it just gives some errors and says it won't compile; here is the wiki: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Device/DWL-G122_(Rev_B)?highlight=%28WifiDocs%2FDevice%29 [10:07] http://legacy.macnn.com/articles/07/02/15/ubuntu.axes.ppc.support/ [10:08] brentol: talking to me? === anibal [n=anibal@debian/developer/anibal] has joined #ubuntu-kernel [10:12] Opermaxx: it doesn't actually say you _need_ gcc-3.4. That's just the version used in the apt-get example. My guess is the driver doesn't compile on linux 2.6.17. Without the compile output, however, it is impossible to say. [10:14] pkl_: ok; but with the gcc-4.x it doesn't [10:16] What I'm saying is the failure to build is probably nothing to do with the compiler version, more to do with the _kernel_ version. [10:16] pkl_: but the newer package need 2.6.17 or higher === Opermaxx [n=xenumbi4@i3ED6DBDB.versanet.de] has left #ubuntu-kernel [] [10:27] aieee...hes at it again === zul_ [n=chuck@CPE0006258ec6c1-CM000a73655d0e.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com] has joined #ubuntu-kernel === zul [n=chuck@CPE0006258ec6c1-CM000a73655d0e.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com] has joined #ubuntu-kernel
