dejxanyway....... what's up with my wlan connection?:) how can i connect on wpa?:)01:03
dejxit work on ssids w/out encryption01:03
kumamotoI thought the whole idea of ftp is to copy files from one machine to another01:03
kumamotoi didn't know it can transfer the file then take it back01:04
kristjansuh... i just want to save the html files to the ftp server01:04
kumamotothat is what ftp does01:05
kristjansi don't like the idea of saving the file and then transferring, because it would add an extra step.01:05
PuMpErNiCkLeKind of a required step - you can't ftp a file that's not stored in a place accessible by the ftp client.01:07
kumamotomaybe someone else can explain it better than I01:07
kristjansin gnome and kde i could do that. it probably saved the file in temporary folder, but at least i didn't have to do that01:08

Cooner750I'm running on an Intel Pentium 4, 1.5GHz. 256MB Memory. Samsung CD-RW Drive. I am able to get Xubuntu booted from the CD, although the boot process seems to take abnormally long. Once it gets up and running, I can start the Installer. However, when it's copying files, for some reason the system "locks up" at a percentage between 30 and 45%, and the CD drive just starts going "click-t-click-t-click"06:18

maxamilliongrazie: actioned?05:36
graziemaxamillion: if you submit a patch will it be implemented? I'm talking ppc here...05:37
maxamilliongrazie: well, first a devel (or team member with privilages) will have to officially confirm the bug and then it will be assigned to a team or devel and it will then be fixed as either a bug fix for security or will be fixed "upstream" and implemented in the next release05:39
graziemaxamillion: yeah I understand that...but I get the feeling that hardly any ppc bugs are being looked at though05:40
maxamilliongrazie: oh, i don't doubt that they are being ignored05:41
graziemaxamillion: it's almost worth setting up a separate repo05:42

neozenwelcome dude11:19
neozenI take it .... you're running edgy?11:19
neozenvil?11:19
VilhelmsYup11:20
=== neozen nods
neozen..in my experience11:20
neozen..keyboard shortcuts are broken in edgy11:20
neozen...they don't work11:20
VilhelmsThey work fine11:20
VilhelmsIf I just boot in gnome11:20
neozen..yeah11:20
neozen...then you're running gnome11:21
neozen...not xfce11:21
VilhelmsI am running gnome11:21
VilhelmsThe interface looks exactly like gnome11:21
VilhelmsBut the last xfce theme I had is loading11:21
VilhelmsBut if I run xfce-setting-show it goes away11:21
neozenwell.... they both use gtk themes11:21
VilhelmsYes, I understand that... That's what I figured was happening.11:22
VilhelmsBut why would my shortcuts not work then?11:22
neozen....because shortcut keys ... are broken... in xubuntu edgy11:22
neozen..as I said11:22
neozen*in the version of xfce distributed w/ edgy11:22
neozen...understand me now?11:23
VilhelmsI'm not using xubuntu11:23
VilhelmsI installed Ubuntu originally11:23
neozen...ok11:23
VilhelmsBut I installed the xubuntu-desktop package11:23
=== neozen nods
VilhelmsThen I removed the xubuntu-desktop package, and this is happening :(11:24
neozen...ok11:24
neozenwhen you removed ... did you purge xubuntu-desktop?11:24
VilhelmsPurge? I don't think so11:24
=== neozen nods
VilhelmsI just did "sudo apt-get remove xubuntu-desktop"11:24
neozenremove removes the packages11:25
neozenpurge removes the package AND its configuration files11:25
neozensudo apt-get purge xubuntu-desktop11:25
neozen...and next time you install something11:26
neozen...use aptitude instead of apt-get11:26
neozen..the syntax is the same11:26
VilhelmsOh11:26
VilhelmsWhat's the difference then?11:26
neozenbut it will kill off any dependencies installed with the package when you remove it11:26
neozen...so ... for example11:27
VilhelmsOh okay11:27
VilhelmsI understand11:27
neozenhowever11:27
neozen...it only does this...11:27
neozenwhen you installed the application with aptitude11:27
VilhelmsI did sudo apt-get atuoremove to remove all the unused dependencies (or so apt told me to do)11:27
neozenyou mean autoclean11:27
neozen...I don't think they do the same thing11:27
Vilhelmsno autoremove11:27
neozenhmm11:27
neozennew to me11:28
VilhelmsAh, I see11:28
VilhelmsWell I just remembered I had installed an upgrade to xfce with a different package not in xubuntu-desktop so I'm removing that :)11:28
VilhelmsAnd seeing if it helps11:28
=== neozen nods
VilhelmsI can't purge11:28
VilhelmsE: Invalid operation purge11:28

VilhelmsYeah thats what I figured11:29
