UbugtuMalone bug 90267 in network-manager "ntp starts before the network is up in feisty" [Medium,Confirmed]  https://launchpad.net/bugs/9026703:42

mdzhggdh: n-m ought to run the if-up.d scripts when it brings up an interface03:48
mdzI'm not sure whether it does, but that seems like a good solution03:49
mdzyes, it seems to do that already03:49
mdzhggdh: how did you verify that it isn't working?03:49
hggdhmdz: looking at the ntp entries under daemon.log03:50
hggdhbug 9026703:50
UbugtuMalone bug 90267 in network-manager "ntp starts before the network is up in feisty" [Medium,Confirmed]  https://launchpad.net/bugs/9026703:50
mdzhggdh: it could very well fail to start up at boot, but when the network interface is brought up later, /etc/init.d/ntp restart should be run03:50
mdzso those errors aren't fatal03:50
mdzhah. the script is crippled by default03:51
hggdhmdz: thanks. Now it is easier: all I have to do is find with the user (and on my laptop) why ntp restart was not issued03:51
mdzmizar:[/etc/network/if-up.d]  cat ntp03:51
mdz#!/bin/sh03:51
mdz# remove (or comment out) the next line if your network addresses change03:51
mdzexit 003:51
mdzhggdh: that's why ^^^03:51
hggdhmdz: ah03:51
hggdh:-)03:52
mdzhggdh: try uncommenting that and see if it fixes things for you03:53
hggdhmdz: will do, and I guess it will work. But... we go back to n-am: if n-am is going to take care of most users, then this script should be active by default, not the other way around...03:53
hggdhand I insist in typing n - a am. Darn!03:54
mdzhggdh: the first step is to test it; we only think about enabling it by default if it _works_ :-)03:54
hggdhmdz: indeed03:54
hggdhmdz: nope, does not seem to  trigger /etc/network/ifup,d/ntp -- but ntpdate is triggered, and (of course) fails03:58
hggdhmdz: will look into it more carefully03:58

crimsunbdmurray: which issues? audio ones generally, or...?07:23
bdmurrayaudio ones generally, I've seen a few regarding "headphone sense"07:24
crimsunbdmurray: that really depends on the Ubuntu release07:24
crimsunbdmurray: I'll be holding an ubuntu-audio team meeting next week (open to the public, of course) to go over such issues. The issue for hp jack sense is that there are inevitable regressions from Dapper/Edgy -> Feisty due to source code being dropped that hasn't been remerged yet. Toby and I are working through that.07:26
crimsunbdmurray: the above is in reference to hp jack sense for AC'97-based codecs. You can distinguish those in an ``lspci -vn'' output by their 0401 class/ID.07:27
crimsunbdmurray: OTOH, for HDA-based codecs (identifiable by 0403 class/ID), it's more complicated. HDA support is in great flux currently. The best thing to do for AC'97-based hp jack sense issues is to tag them "AC'97 jack sense", and the HDA ones, "HDA jack sense".07:28
bdmurraycrimsun: okay, maybe e-mail the bugsquad about the meeting if the content is relevant07:28

seb128hi dholbach10:02
dholbachthekorn: about urllib2: we can certainly use and try that for 0.2 - we shouldn't change that for 0.1 though10:05
dholbachthekorn: what do you think?10:05
thekorndholbach: that true, but i dont know how to handle errors in urllib.10:07
thekorndholbach: im working on a urllib2 version right now, it works fine so far, get alot of 503 errors from launchpad :-)10:08
dholbachhehe :)10:08
dholbachit's a good time for implementing that feature :)10:08
dholbachthekorn: maybe we can only implement it as good as we can for 0.1 :)10:08
thekorndholbach: sounds good10:09
jayteeukMorning all.10:11
thekorndholbach: btw: when will beta.launchpad.net be released? Is there alot of difference in the HTML-code, do we have to change our RegEx?10:12
dholbachgood question, I don't know10:13
dholbachmaybe we should ask in one of the next launchpad meetings10:13
dholbachor ask on launchpad-users@ and bughelper@10:13
dholbachat some stage we should use htmllib or parse the html in libxml and use xpath - I find that way easier :)10:14
dholbachand more comprehensible :)10:14
thekornindeed it is!10:14
dholbachso we have a lot of interesting 0.2 goals :)10:15
Hobbseedholbach: "when it's ready"10:19
dholbachHobbsee: hm?10:20
Hobbseedholbach: when beta launchpad gets released10:20
dholbachright :)10:21
Hobbseedholbach: voted for kde4 yet?10:26
dholbachdoing so atm10:26
Hobbseeah10:26
dholbachdone10:26
Hobbseedholbach: you are aware that if it doesnt go into the archives, it'll just go on kubuntu.org anyway?10:26
dholbachthat's irrelevant to my decision - I have no control over third party repositories10:27
dholbachI think you'll maybe like my decision10:29
seb128what vote?10:31
Hobbseeseb128: a general UVFe for kde4 packages - both new and updated, from the kubuntu devs10:32
seb128ah ok10:32
Hobbsee(into universe)10:32
seb128that's late to get crack like that, no?10:32
dholbachit's the unstable new development branch10:33
dholbach"technology preview"10:33
seb128zillions of new kubuntu bugs when they don't cope with the ones they already have10:33
dholbachpoint10:35
Hobbseeseb128: the point is for people not to file bugs on it - it's an out of date snapshot - it's only so that people can run kubuntu and develop for kde4 at the same time (when they freeze libs)10:35
jayteeukReboot required... brb.10:35
=== jayteeuk [n=jayteeuk@cpc1-derb5-0-0-cust76.lei3.cable.ntl.com] has left #ubuntu-bugs []
Hobbseei mean, it's not really going to be *terribly* useful before the library, etc freeze, but after that...10:36
seb128Hobbsee: you can't package something and ask people to not file bugs then10:36
seb128that's like "Ubuntu has no quality, we upload crack and doesn't care about what breaks then"10:36
Hobbseeseb128: i realise that.10:36
Hobbseemore along the lines of "this is only a snapshot, please file bugs upstream, they may have already been fixed in svn"10:37
=== Hobbsee shrugs
seb128that's about the same10:37
seb128you ship things without taking responsability for them10:37
