NerdzHi05:04
NerdzMy problem is: When I try to install ubuntu, I select the Start/Install menu, then I see the ubuntu logo with a progress bar at the bottom. When the progress bar reach the end, I see a black screen and then, I see a orange/yellow screen and I only have my mouse. I have waited 10minutes to this window and still nothing. What can I do to solve this? Thanks05:06

smohi all01:39
smoneed help with ubiquity 2 things01:39
smofirst does ubiquity create a $user variable for exemple and how can i use it ??? and during install i chosse new user and password but after install this user is not created still need to use the original live c user any idears on those 2 points?01:40
smoreally need answer please01:40
smolast thing not workng in my custom live cd01:40
smoanyone here?01:44
smoneed help :(01:44
cjwatsonI think you should start by reading doc/README in the ubiquity souece package01:44
cjwatsonsource01:44
cjwatsonit doesn't answer your question directly but it will help you ask less confused questions :-)01:45
cjwatsonand also, five minutes is not a long enough period of time to start panicking and asking "anyone here?". Please don't do that. IRC takes a while.01:45
smoi know cj... not a newb but thx anyway01:46
smoso it could be normal cjwatson?01:49
smoreading the README01:49
cjwatsonthe original live CD user is intentionally not copied across; changing that would need modifications to ubiquity to explicitly copy it01:54
cjwatson(ubiquity copies the read-only squashfs, not the running live session, so it doesn't include the live CD user which is only created at live CD boot time)01:54
cjwatsonsounds like you accidentally booted back into the live session, to be honest01:55
smod on t know01:55
smoi created user smolleyes for exemple01:55
smowhen gdm boot after install i use those login and it s say no smolleyes user...01:55
smo/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/components/usersetup.py |  /usr/lib/ubiquity/user-setup/01:56
smoneed to change one of those scripts?01:57
smoi need to kepp my /home/user or casper not create the user right during live cd boot just add part of my /etc/skel adduser works fine copy all /etc/sskel01:58
smostrange01:58
smomaybe proble is due to the fact i keep the original live cd user in /home01:58
smonot gerenated01:58
smocould be?01:59
cjwatsonyes02:14
cjwatsondon't do that - have it be generated at boot time02:14
cjwatsonand make sure /etc/passwd on the read-only filesystem doesn't have any non-system users (e.g. no uid 1000), otherwise user-setup won't bother creating a user02:14
smook cjwatson but why it do not import all files in /etc/skel on defualt live user???02:25
smojust part of it02:25
smoso ugly icon no wallpaper no gnome config... but adduser works fine02:25
smosmo:x:1000:1000:,,,:/home/smo:/bin/bash02:26
cjwatsonI suspect you made a mistake somewhere - it does just use adduser (ultimately)02:26
smohave it now for the default user02:26
cjwatsonagain, make sure that /etc/passwd doesn't have that user listed in it on your squashfs02:26
smoso i remove the homedir and those line in /etc/apsswd right?02:27
cjwatsonsee if there's anything from user-setup or adduser in /var/log/casper.log too02:27
cjwatsonyes02:27
cjwatsonthey don't belong in the squashfs02:27
smoand home will be complete on "generation "?02:28
smosorry for my englsih and thx for the help cjwatson :)02:28
cjwatsonall I can say is "it should be". :-)02:28
smook i ll try so02:29
smodeluser too?02:30
cjwatsondeluser is not involved02:37
