fdoving_StefanS_: my hack works, but konqueror crashes when trying to open audiocd:/?device=/dev/scd0 - ejecting works though :)12:15
_StefanS_fdoving: hmm, maybe we should just put the device node thingy inside the kio_unmounter thing12:15
fdoving_StefanS_: nevermind, my hack works. just had to install konqueror from the same build.12:16
_StefanS_fdoving: oka fine :)12:17
fdoving_StefanS_: does your work? i belive they do exactly the same thing in different places.12:17
_StefanS_fdoving: well I had to create a QString first, and you sort of beat me to it12:17
_StefanS_fdoving: should work, yes12:18
_StefanS_fdoving: neverming, please tell Tonio_ about it, he asked me about it recently12:18
_StefanS_neverming/nevermind12:18
_StefanS_I will just go on with the knm/leap thingy12:18
fdovingwhat's that?12:19
fdovingthe disconnected-state thing?12:19
_StefanS_fdoving: nope, the LEAP support in knetworkmanager12:19
fdovingoh. ok.12:19
_StefanS_fdoving: like PEAP12:19
_StefanS_yep, the localhost/127.0.0.1 i dont know about12:19
_StefanS_saw your comment on that bug about the network awareness you could disable to solve it12:20
_StefanS_however I feel that it should be fixed though.12:20
fdovingsome magic dcop call from /etc/network/if-up.d/ to set the connectionstate would be nice.12:21
_StefanS_fdoving: uhm yep, but do we need knm to fiddle with on/offline settings at all?12:21
fdovingor just drop the networkstatus-thing at a whole, it's useless anyway, if you're not online you'll get problems doing things online.12:21
_StefanS_sort of the same thing I'm saying, just in a different place :D12:22
fdoving_StefanS_: no, but do we need a daemon in the background always saying "we're online, there are no programs running to tell me otherwise", if we just disable that app, i belive it would be solved.12:23
_StefanS_fdoving: yes you're right... seems worthless anyways.12:23
fdovingi'm not aware of anything smart that daemon does.12:23
fdovingmaybe some kmail magic.12:23
fdovingit's in kdepim so..12:23
_StefanS_I say we lose it12:24
_StefanS_but that may be up to some discussion later on..12:24
fdovingyep.12:24
_StefanS_gotta hit the bed, the kid wakes up at 6.30 tomorrow morning.12:24
_StefanS_see you tomorrow probably12:25
fdovingyeah, me too.12:25
fdovingnite.12:25

manchickenWife == zzz12:33
manchickenErr, Wife.status() == ZZZ12:33
Hobbseeheh12:33
mhbmanchicken: you didn't tell us much12:36
mhbmanchicken: is the result true or false12:36
mhb?12:36
manchickenmhb: Not any more.12:37
manchickenYou asked too late.12:37
ajmitchhey manchicken12:37
manchickenThe real code block would be...12:37
manchickenwhile (Mike.notBusy()) { Wife.sleep() };12:37
manchickenajmitch: Howdy.12:37
mhbmanchicken: well you coded a comparison (==) , so I wondered if that returns true or false12:38
manchickenDid about 3 minutes ago.  Doesn't now :)12:38
mhbmanchicken: I'm unable to compile adept from SVN today :o) too many "undefined references"12:39
manchickenmhb: Do you have libept and all of that installed?12:40
manchickenThat was the hard part for me.12:40
manchickenAll of the new dependencies.12:40
manchickenlibtagcoll12:41
manchickenOkay, I'm gonna boogie.12:41
mhbmanchicken: yeah12:41
mhbmanchicken: it compiles fine12:41
mhbmanchicken: but seems to "not find the libraries"12:41
manchickenWell look closely at what it says it's linking and what paths it's looking at.12:42
mhbmanchicken: there is only a "libtagcoll2-dev" package, no "libtagcoll2" lib ... hope that's not an issue12:42
manchickenI'm gonna go chill with my wife for now.12:42
manchickenNaw, the packages are named weird.12:42
mhbmanchicken: see you later12:42
mhbmanchicken: mostly complaining about tagcoll12:42
mhbanother mhb-like stupid question coming up, everyone hide! Okay ... is it normal for KDE to load after the splash screen is gone?12:57
mhbI wait till the splash is gone and then I have to wait the same time before the system is usable12:58
mhb(and I always remind myself how I hate to see the "K" bouncing logo)12:58
fdovingmhb: i guess it is normal for the session to be restored after the splash is gone.12:59
fdovingthings you keep in the systray etc.12:59
mhbfdoving: the thing why I ask is because I've heard people complain about this01:01
mhbthe splash screen is there in order to hide the system loading01:01
mhbbut I see the "incomplete" system even after that01:02
mhbI believe that a clean Kubuntu system should be ready when the splash screen is gone01:03
fdovingisn't it?01:03
mhbI have three computers around, and it is ready on none of them01:03
mhbI always see the "bouncing" K logo painting all over itself (an ugly effect indeed)01:04
fdovingthat should be disabled.01:04
fdovingit's ugly and it's easy to disable.01:04
fdovingor replace with something more discret.01:05
yuriybut still, the system isn't all the way up once the splash scren is gone01:05
mhbexactly01:05
yuriyespecially when you have a session being restored01:05
mhbyuriy: well, people can expect a delay when they restore several apps like me01:05
mhbyuriy: but on machines I work with, even a clean user does have to wait several seconds01:06
fdovingi doubt there is much we can do about that, we can of course rewrite ksmserver, but i won't do it.01:06
yuriyeverything gets launched after the splash screen01:06
yuriymhb: but one of the things in ksplash (which i know is all bs) is restoring session so i would expect it to do it then01:06
mhbyuriy: true, that's the last icon01:06
yuriyksmserver is rewritten in kde4, no?01:06
mhbfdoving: I don't expect that from you :o) I just wanted to share the information and ask about it01:07
mhbfdoving: by the way, how can I disable the bouncing K logo?01:07
mhbfdoving: without disabling the other bouncing icons01:08
fdovingmhb: kmenu -> run command 'kcmshell kcmlaunch'01:08
fdovingoh, you like bouncing icons?01:08
fdovingi use a passive busy cursor for everything.01:08
mhbfdoving: no, I hate them :o) but I know other devs do want them in Kubuntu01:09
mhbfdoving: so I wondered if you can disable just the "K" one01:09
mhbfdoving: because that one is completely unnecessary01:09
fdovingnot that i'm aware of.01:09
mhbfdoving: well, at least there is somebody who shares my dislike of bouncing icons :o)01:10
fdovingwe could probably execute the last step in the ksplash externally from within a startupscript that is loaded from the autostart folder or something like that.01:11
fdovingexecute/finish.01:11
mhbthat could work01:19
fdovingi'll have a look some day.01:25
fdovingpoke me if i forget it.01:25
fdovingnow i need some sleep.01:25
fdovingnite.01:25
mhbfdoving: goodnight01:26

SlimG2When I start konqueror 3.5.6 (kubuntu 7.04), and then a tab with $HOME, and then "View > View Mode > Detailed List View" Konqueror doesn't write a $HOME/.directory file and thus forgets for future use that I prefer "Detailed List View", what's wrong?08:14
SlimG2If I create $HOME/.directory with "ViewMode=konq_detailedlistview" it works like I want it, so the question is why doesn't konqueror create this file by itself?08:16
