[11:48] or was that #debian... [11:53] jrib: I assume that was for their link, not my comment above? [11:54] i'm a litlte wary of doing stuff like that - a warning, yes - but not a ban [11:54] i occasionally have to connect as root [11:54] bbrazil: yeah, the link and then just leaving [11:54] when i've screwed up my machine, and been on irc getting help on fixing it [11:54] #debian used to be quite militant about such things [11:55] and then the user part of the hostmask changed, so the quiet no longer worked as-is [12:07] bbrazil: #debian [12:08] yes, #debian. I used to help out there, before I started helping out in #ubuntu [12:09] there are lots of user-unfriendly rules in #debian [12:10] that's why we answer debian (and now suse) questions in #ubuntu [12:10] we do? [12:10] I know I once answered a cygwin question, someone was wondring why 'find' wasn't working [12:11] #ubuntu should be renamed to #ubuntu-suse-debian? [12:11] I think nalioth is proposing more #humnity-to-others [12:12] i can understand that. debian eh ok thats fine but suse? [12:12] thats more off topic than automatix [12:12] some questions can be answered from a general unix standpoint [12:12] dont get me wrong i use suse [12:14] IMO by going that way with it we are opening ourselves up for "please join #u-o about the automatix topic" user="why you are disscussing suse?" [12:14] used topic as they were just typed [12:17] as it is clear to us on why we do things its not always clear to users [12:19] I'm sure there'll be an official policy on it at some point
