[01:51] i'd blow away the entire box if i thought it would help [01:51] well i dont think that drastic of a change is needed here [01:51] but you can at least narrow down the problem to db corruption [01:51] if freshly doing the db solves it [02:00] where do i start off with that? [02:00] well backup the db, remove mythtv-database and mysql-server-5.0. reinstall both. run mythtv-setup [02:00] and set things up [02:00] if they work, then something is messed up with your old db [02:00] and you can either drop it and ignore [02:00] or sort it out and find the problem [02:02] no need to really back up the db i don't have any recordings i care about [02:02] well thats up to you [02:02] i mean if you dont have anything of value [02:02] then dont worry about it [02:03] sudo apt-get remove --purge mythtv-database mysql-server-5.0 [02:03] and then [02:03] sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.0 mythtv-database === varka_ [n=varkatop@p54A5EA02.dip.t-dialin.net] has joined #ubuntu-mythtv [02:06] maybe i have bigger issues [02:06] why? But now I'm stuck at configurting the backend [09:07] I am following the community doc howto to install mythtv on feisty [09:07] And I have just installed the mythtv package [09:08] but I guess that the database isn't correctly created since the only table in there is schemalock [09:08] i wouldn't look into the database unless there was a problem [09:08] whats your next step? [09:09] well, I should do the general stuff etc. and defining the tv cards, but it doesn't save anythin g [09:09] what do you mean by save? [09:09] well the database permissions are created when the package is installed [09:09] and the terminal says this when I just load the config app [09:09] the database itself is made when launching mythtv-setup [09:10] if it errors when you run mytht-tv setup and it is blue then you have a database problem [09:10] you will see scrolling lines of errors [09:11] mythtv-setup isn't blue [09:12] but it does generate a lot of errors [09:12] What sorts of errors? [09:12] like this one: Argument missing: ERROR: Unable to acquire database upgrade lock [09:12] or: Table 'mythconverg.keybindings' doesn't exist [09:12] And that for a lot of tables [09:12] Yick. [09:12] So it looks like somehow or another there was corruption in the process of making it [09:13] do you have any other valuable data? [09:13] in mysql [09:13] in the database, no [09:13] a clean machine this is :) [09:13] okay. here is easiest solution then [09:13] sudo apt-get remove --purge mythtv mythtv-database mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 [09:13] and drop the database when it asks [09:13] followed by sudo apt-get install mythtv [09:16] doen and now retry mythtv-setup I guess [09:17] hopefully thats all it was ;) [09:17] this looks an awfull lot better :) thanks [09:24] superm1: Hiya [09:24] hey a5benwillis [09:24] anyone know if mythbuntu will eventually work with trunk?
