[04:46] can one of core-dev's confirm bug 118261 [04:46] sorry, wrong channel [04:52] madduck: Hm, probably. Might just need some coe adding [04:53] mjg59: coe? [04:54] if i can get those buttons to work, there will be no need to use acpi on the x40 and it'll be stable [04:55] madduck: code [04:55] Basically, figure out which bits of nvram change when you hit a key and then add keycode generation for them [04:56] i'll see if i can hack it. [04:56] then all i need is some daemon like acpid that can execute scripts in response. [04:59] last question, mjg59: is it at all possible to turn on the external display on the x40 without acpi? [04:59] Yeah [05:00] Use latest xserver and intel driver [05:00] ah, true. it's cloned. just tried it. [05:00] sweet [05:00] Fn-F7 is completely unnecessary anyway [05:00] madduck: Oh, hey, have you still got either of those swiss X40 keyboards? [05:01] yes, i do. [05:01] I might be interested in one if that's not a problem [05:01] i doubt it's a problem. just let me know when might be turns into "am" [05:02] Heh. Ok, make it am [05:02] I'll be at debconf [05:02] ok, will bring you one. [05:02] Thanks! [05:02] if you take it you get the unique opportunity to witness acpi freezes on the x40 which you've never seen before. :) [05:02] Oh, wait. Do you have laptop-mode enabled? [05:03] with or without, same thing. [05:03] Ok [05:03] Not that, then [05:03] Hm [05:03] Very weird [05:03] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=426548 [05:03] linked to and from the launchpad bug [05:04] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/12483 [05:04] We certainly had issues with thinkpads and laptop-mode [05:04] For reasons I could never determine [05:05] Anyway.
