BelialMkIIthanks crimsun12:48
crimsune.g., asoundconf set-default-card Headset12:48

Chikubuno i mean the access point has been assigned a static ip, on the xubunto machine ive given the usb wireless adaptor that ip to find the wireless network, if i put another wireless adaptor on another machine, and pointed it to that ip, wouldnt that be a conflict?07:13
Chikubui didnt wordd that well07:13
j1mcChikubu: so having the same IP address point to two machines?07:14
j1mcor even just have it point to two adapters?07:14
Chikubuthats what i dont understand07:14
j1mcyeah...  i'm not sure i understand by reading your description.07:14
Chikubuthe access point you connect straight to wired router (acting as hub here) or right into lan card to configure via webbrowser, i assigned the acces point a static ip07:15
Chikubuso you bring in a pc with a wireless adapter, it communicates with the access point, using the static ip of the access point i assume07:16
Chikubudoesnt seem like it leaves much room for another pc with wireless adapter to come in and use that one ip07:16
Chikubuunless the access point is doing something i dont understand yet07:17
Chikubui guess i dont understand how the gateway works completly yet, ill read07:19

predaeusMaxFrames, they should. Sometimes things get messy. But basically they should stay. That is the idea of upgrading.12:00
predaeusMaxFrames, depending on what way of upgrading you chose, the application might ask if it should keep the configuration for an application or use the new one provided with the package.12:04
CatoptromancyA little trick i figured12:04

predaeusMaxFrames, it might be possible if it is still downloading packages, not instlaling yet.12:10

predaeuswas it from the repos?01:44
predaeushm then it shouldnt be intrusive or anything01:45
predaeuseh I mean harmful01:45
predaeushm in /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird is an option for enabling debugging, you could try that.01:45
predaeusmaybe it's just for the script though01:46
redmonkeyhow do i enable it?01:47
predaeusgksudo mousepad /usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird    then look for the line     "set -x" and remove the # infront to enable it. add the # later again.01:49
predaeusbut I fear that is just for debugging the script that launches the thunderbird binary01:49
predaeusyou can still try to reinstall thunderbird.01:50
redmonkeyi did. didnt help :(01:50
bobslaedehey, is there a better tool for changing keyboard layouts (like the keyboard settings gnome has), as it seems my U.S layout isn't that sane..01:50
predaeusaha DOUBLE-CLICK: 300 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 + exitcode=001:50
predaeussays that here too but runs fine01:50
predaeuswith debugging enabled like I said above, I can see that line too01:51
predaeusthis is totally weird01:51
predaeusalso if run like this   /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/mozilla-thunderbird-bin     it prints that line too01:52
predaeusbut runs fine always01:52
predaeushm it always prints that line it seems, or I just caused it to somehow. but it runs fine apart from that.01:54
redmonkeyif i try to run /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh01:54
redmonkeyit says01:54
redmonkeyrun-mozilla.sh: Cannot execute .01:54
predaeusyea add the second part after.  /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/mozilla-thunderbird-bin       but it doesnt make a difference01:55
predaeus"/usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/run-mozilla.sh /usr/lib/mozilla-thunderbird/mozilla-thunderbird-bin"01:55
redmonkeyok, same error... Segmentation fault (core dumped)01:55
predaeusbasically it seems like that error is usual. but the segfault is not...hm01:56
predaeusweird what could cause it to change DOUBLE-CLICK: 300 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 + exitcode=0 to DOUBLE-CLICK: 300 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 Segmentation fault (core dumped)01:56

hyper_chtechnel: use another one08:15
technelAlso, just to confirm: If I have an ATI card, it is basically impossible to have transparent panels? (Seriously, GNOME does it no problem...even fluxbox can do it)08:15
technelhyper_ch, non-US?08:16
hyper_chtechnel: if they are working they are faster than non-working-US ones ;)08:16
hyper_chand ify ou use d4x08:16
hyper_chyou can change the download url anytime08:16
hyper_chif the file is the same08:16
technelhyper_ch, Cool, thanks08:18
hyper_chtechnel: or you could try bittorrent08:19
technelhyper_ch, Yeah, tried that. I have a lot of problems with Azureus08:19
hyper_chI use ktorrent :)08:20
technelSeriously, I have been using it >1 year and it will work for ~2 hours, then it goes to 0kb download, then I change port, it works, it's nasty08:20

PumpernickelTake a look at Deluge, while you're at it.08:25
felicianoPumpernickel.. I try deluge.. but always it crush down08:25
technelmeanwhile d4x isn't downloading from a european mirror either :(08:26
felicianoPumpernickel.. and then never run again08:26
Jester45azureus? i use that08:26
techneldeluge has a nice logo :P08:26
technelJester45, Does it work?08:26
hyper_chwell, for ktorrent to be really fast you will need to allow UPnP08:26
Jester45yea it works08:26
hyper_chor someone said he likes utorrent best through wine08:27
felicianobut ktorrent install libraries from kde... yep?08:27
Jester45i love utorrent but not in wine... it looks out of place08:27
technelhyper_ch, I read on Azureus's wiki that if you have a hardware router like mine you should disable UPnP08:27
Pumpernickelfeliciano: It does have a few bugs.  I had a few crashes like that; it's very sensitive about locale settings and won't work if there's any inconsistency.08:27
Jester45technel, i have it enabled but it doesnt matter becuase im in the DMZ08:27
felicianoPumpernickel.. saddly08:28
hyper_chtechnel: ok... then follow that...08:31
technelI also read that my router (BEFSR41) inherently has problems with torrents or something08:31
technelthen I did a firmware upgrade and it didn't work at all08:31
techneland Linksys basically gave me the finger when I asked for support08:31

hyper_chtechnel: is it support by openwrt?08:33
technelhyper_ch, Never used that?08:33
hyper_chtechnel: it's an opensource router software... much more configurable than the default one... I have it on my linksys08:34
technelhyper_ch, According to their wiki they only support WRT* routers (not BF*)08:36
hyper_chtechnel: well, a great many routers are supported... there were chances that yours was supported also08:36
technelhyper_ch, I seriously have no idea why Azureus doesn't work though. I have read through the wiki pages and followed the steps so many times, it's insane08:37

alnoktautorrent for windows08:39
technelyeah, utorrent is great08:39
hyper_chor utorrent for wine :)08:39
technelwine is a mess to get working08:40
TheSheephyper_ch: because you cannot leave it on a detached screen on a server and just switch off your home box08:40

TheSheepgodless: .bin are usually just direct images of the whole cd or single cd tracks. the information on how they are structured is in the .cue file. if it's a whole disk, you can just burn the .bin file directly as if it was an iso09:12

octoberdanI've customized my desktop pannels completely and some where along the line got rid of the "Applications" menu09:21
octoberdanHow do I get that back?09:21
octoberdanI'm actually just using XFCE and never formally installed xubuntu, but rather install bit by bit as I need the stuff09:22
octoberdanRight now I'm following a tutorial on using thunar/fuse to browse a network09:22
octoberdanThe tutorial says "click XFCE's Application menu" which I do not have09:23
octoberdanSo I guess the question is, how do I get that menu09:24
octoberdanAh, I think the problem is that I have it, and know how to access it, it just has different items since I didn't install xubuntu09:26
octoberdanHow do I get the xubuntu items?09:26
octoberdanbut I don't want to install extra bloat or overwrite my precious xfce configurations?09:26
godlessoctoberdan:  what are you looking for within the menu?09:27
godlessif you right click on the panel and add new item the last option should be xfce menu09:28

octoberdan"In XFCE Applications -> System -> Users and Groups"09:28
alnokta(i.e. without sending nasty signals to processes that don't deserve it) hehe09:29
