manchickenAny packagers in the house?06:07
RAOFWell, yes.06:07
RAOFAlthough that introduction suggests that #ubuntu-motu will be a more appropriate forum for whatever it is you actually want to ask :)06:07
manchickenWell, I'm a developer, and need I'm just needing someone to tell me where to put additional missing dependencies on packages?06:08
Hobbseemanchicken: what's up?06:08

RAOF^^^ is right, as long as you've built the apt-file database.06:12
manchickendidn't know about apt-file06:13
manchickenThat's a nice one to know.06:13
RAOFYes.  It's like a supercharged "dpkg -S" :)06:14
manchickenAh.h06:14

RAOFYeah, apt-file is really useful :)06:24
manchickenI know the code, but still figuring out a lot of the packaging quirks.06:24
manchickenIt's ironic that many of the packagers regard the hackers as cleverer, while many of the hackers regard the packagers in the same fashion.06:25

carlospitti: ok, the problem is with liveCD, I guess we are not including Persian language pack with liveCD, are we?01:16
pitticarlos: we don't, but that's not the problem (it can be installed off the network)01:17
pitticarlos: I suspect there is a problem with supporting the fonts or so; cjwatson and/or evand might know01:17
carlospitti: the problem he complains about is that they don't get the chance to select Persian01:17
pittiright, I understand01:17
carlospitti: should I redirect them to debian-installer package in launchpad to file a bug?01:17
carlospitti: he says that he gets the option to install the language pack (which confuses me because I think he said first he was not able to...)01:20
pitticarlos: ubiquity rather, I'd say01:21
carlospitti: so the only thing I can think on is that debian-installer is not including Persian translation (this is outside language packs)01:21
carlospitti: hmm, right, having its translations included in debian-installer confused me :-P01:22

mvocypherbios: yes, as long as its suffiently different (the dialog). are you aware of the 3rdparty CD support that we also have? not sure how useful that is in the context of aptoncd01:58
cypherbiosmvo: software-properties are enough to add the media as apt source. But I would like, when a aptoncd media is inserted in the drive, it automatically prompts this dialog (or something like this) asking the user if he wants to add media as apt source02:00
mvocypherbios: sure, that should not be very hard02:01

keescookpitti: I was trying to have a trade-off between space and code sanity, etc, but I agree, it's not correct as is.  I'll fix it.06:18
keescookor I'm happy to take a patch.  ;)06:19
pittikeescook: oh, not urgent06:19
calcRiddell: bug 1545106:20
ubotuLaunchpad bug 15451 in openoffice.org "Kubuntu SMB issue with OpenOffice" [Medium,Confirmed]  https://launchpad.net/bugs/1545106:20
calcRiddell: any ideas about that issue, seems like a smb kioslave issue(?)06:21
calcRiddell: tried to reassign it to kubuntu-meta but i get integrity errors in launchpad, heh06:21
enricoRiddell: thanks06:23
Riddellcalc: I suspect it's because in /usr/share/applications/ooo-writer.desktop etc we have X-KDE-Protocols=file,http,smb,ftp,webdav06:23
Riddellcalc: I seem to remember someone telling me at the time that openoffice could do smb, presumably it can't06:24
Riddellcalc: if you could remove smb from that line in the .desktop files that should fix it06:24
calcRiddell: it works with gnome smb somehow, not sure what it actually does06:24
Riddellhmm, curious06:24
Riddellmaybe the URL format is different06:24
RiddellI'm sure openoffice won't do webdav:// URLs too06:25
calcthe gnome places-network thing06:25
calcRiddell: hmm yea probably not06:25
Riddellcalc: what's the URL format for a typical smb file on gnome?06:25
calcRiddell: it can open the file but locally only06:25
calcRiddell: no idea06:25
calcsorry i'm not much use on the details yet06:26
calcit says this when using the kde smb stuff06:26
=== sebbar [n=sebbar@p57B3DC52.dip.t-dialin.net] has joined #ubuntu-devel
calc** Protocol "smb" is supported only partially. Local copy of the file will be created. **06:26
sebbarhi, will gutsy have slick-boot?06:27
calci'll have to dig around and see what it is doing soon06:27
exobuzzfrom reading the bugs it seems not everyone is referring to the same problem.. with the kde file browser on openoffice, it has problems with kioslaves, but this is not the same problem as reported in the upstream bug listed06:28
exobuzzi always assumed its the way the file browser is "hacked" onto openoffice. There are some other strange things with it also.06:30
exobuzzits still better than the openoffice file requester though06:30
exobuzzpersonally, i still prefer "reqtools" on my amiga as a file chooser :D06:32
