[03:41] not me. [03:43] EtienneG: looks like it is Corey Burger [03:43] dendrobates, he is Burgundavia, right ? [03:44] EtienneG: yes [03:53] EtienneG: why [03:53] dendrobates, I have a long post in response to your email from this morning [03:53] it is stuck in the moderation queue [03:54] I could cancel and resend, but I would rather just have it approved [04:06] I did the same thing with my post. [04:16] between not knowing c and not knowing perl, I have spent 10x the effort figuring out whats going wrong with the perl stuff than the C stuff [04:17] robertj: so your saying C is easier to debug? [04:17] dendrobates: dunno, or maybe the tutorials are written by non-idiots [04:18] perhaps. or at least fewer idiots. === fernando [n=fernando@unaffiliated/musb] has joined #ubuntu-directory === zch [n=manuel@chello084114173141.4.15.vie.surfer.at] has joined #ubuntu-directory [04:29] hi all [04:49] zch: hello [04:52] dendrobates: I have read you mail [04:53] dendrobates: will you lead the development of directory services for ubuntu? [05:29] zch: I will try to drive it, but lead is a strong word. :) [05:29] ok :) very good news [05:30] so "directory services" has now a higher priority for Ubuntu/Canonical? [05:36] I am trying to make that the case. [05:41] very good [05:41] what about the "authtool"? [05:45] I see that fitting over this work, as a gui. Authtool does not configure /etc/ldap.conf, afaik. [05:47] I would like to pull the /etc/pam.d config bit out and make a wrapper tool that anything could use, like we do for inetd. [05:47] dendrobates: it appears that there is some place holder code for that [05:48] better to do it with debconf in a package, than the code will be easy to write. [05:50] I like the work done on authtool, and would like it to continue, but take advantage of the new packages. [05:52] the meta-package with the debconf scripts and the ldap (pam, nss) -packages in main, would be a huge step forward [05:52] we could then do the same for AD. [05:53] I wanted to do the easiest first. So we could see progress and attract others to help. [05:55] ok, so the first works are packaging and debconf-scripts [06:02] yes.
