Same location, same set of networks - sometimes works, sometimes, no... Rebooting will sometimes works, but is there anything on the command line I can do to give network manager a "nudge" so I don't have to reboot?05:13
lemormmod <driver> and after that modprobe <driver> often helps me05:14

Picishirish: You know I was only kidding right? :)08:42
shirishPici: I know, and I hope you know the same :)08:43
shirishbtw anybody got their hands on this warzone game or its still in queue somewhere?08:43
kiba_warzone?08:44
kiba_GPL08:44
kiba_ed08:44
shirishkiba_: its there in universe, I just saw it today in gutsy-changes, there is warzone & warzone-data described as RTS game08:45
kiba_shirish: I played it before08:45
shirishits an initial release I guess, don't know much about it, just heard it08:45
kiba_it is not that good for me08:45
shirishkiba_: any idea about system requirements? needs a 3-d card or something or what?08:45
kiba_seem to be 3d08:46
kiba_it will run fine08:46
kiba_because I run it on a sucky previous generation computer before08:46
shirishkiba_: its descibed as 3d RTS game, I'm on p4 1.8 ghz on 8 MB VRAM, 600 something DDR RAM 200 mhz.08:47
kiba_sucky previous generation computer = mean if you have a current computer, it will run fine08:47
kiba_shirish: will run fine08:48
kiba_1.2 GB so far for download...08:48
shirishkiba_: ok thanx for the boost , will see how it works08:48
shirishkiba_: you upgrading from feisty to gutsy or what?08:48
kiba_I alreadyd have08:48
shirishwhat's the 1.2 GiB to download thing then08:49
kiba_it consume lot of bandwidth..linux users are the kind that demand lot of bandwidth don't they?08:49
kiba_shirish: so far in one continous session for my computer08:49
shirishkiba_: ah ok, I know what you mean, now08:49
kiba_I download that much08:49
shirishhow were you able to establish how much you are downloading per session?08:50
shirishsome app. your ISP tells you?08:50
kiba_system monitor08:51
shirishah ok, I never used it much08:51
kiba_system > adminstration > system monitor08:51
kiba_would be nice to see how much I used in a month, year...08:51
shirishI know where it is, just never used it08:51
kiba_I am trying to max out the resource of my computer08:52
shirishtrue, does it do stuff in the background, kinda gathering the stats so one could look when one feels like?08:52
kiba_yeah..it gather stats in real time08:52
shirishok cool08:52
kiba_I think linux users required a lot of bandwidth to support08:53
kiba_because they can upgrade the software pretty easily08:53
kiba_window users have a tough time because they don't have an integrated package management system that make that sort of feast easy08:53

shirishkiba_: true08:54
shirishyou meant feat I guess08:54
kiba_yeah08:54
kiba_I guess Free softwares are going to have the tendancy to consume lot more resources08:54
shirishtrue08:55
kiba_you're talking about softwares that can distributed freely08:55
kiba_s/can/can be08:55
shirishesp. with dual-cores & then four-cores coming up for sure08:55
kiba_legally08:55
kiba_I have dual cores08:55
shirishtrue to all08:55
kiba_every computer will have them08:55
shirishI hope so08:55
kiba_I purchased a low end computer and it have dual core08:56

shirishkiba_: I do have bad news thougb, the creator of CUPS (Easy Software) bought by apple people :(08:56
kiba_if it is free, somebody can fork it08:56
shirishit's been bad taste in the mouth since I heard that news08:56
kiba_s/free/Free08:56
shirishits under GPL as well as LGPL08:57
kiba_softwares that would cost million of dollars to developed through proprietary means.....are available on the net for free08:57
shirishhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUPS08:57
shirishkiba_: also, I don't think it will be in the future, as there is a blueprint called apt-torrent so that should give us some more load-balancing08:58
kiba_shirish: even if there are systemic bittorrent, we will still consume lot of bandwidth08:59
shirishand of course there are gonna be people who are gonna make servers to download updates & distribute among them, I know of couple of compnaies which do that08:59
kiba_just the load won't be on the servers so much08:59
kiba_Linux users are probably not the kind of customers ISPs would like to have :P08:59
shirishtrue, its going to be more bandwidth even if linux was not there, since people have discovered bittorrent & video blogging & all kinds of video conferencing08:59

shirishatleast their business model, have bandwidth- will-sell - customers come for greater speeds etc. holds good09:02
RyanT5000how can i tell apt-get to use wine out of gutsy while keeping everything else from feisty?09:02
kiba_shirish: dailup is a competivie area09:02
gnomefreakRyanT5000: you dont want to do that09:02
