ografor round robin setups etc you will need that05:23
moquistwhat does "configurable" mean? anything different than what the package already does?05:23
ograbeing able top specify a different server than localhost for the backend05:23

menozcliebow_: ok, one other question: is it possible that someone, let's say a pupil, has a non-partitioned pen? I mean: what pens are non-partitioned?05:47
cliebow_i am unsure which are..05:48
cliebow_without doing an fdisk05:48
menozcliebow_: maybe only older one are non-partitioned?05:49
cliebow_i am unsure which are..05:49
menozhow many pens, let's say over 100, are non-partitioned? A few one? Most of them?05:50
LaserJockI'm guessing they can "become" unpartitioned too05:50
LaserJockif kids mess around with them05:50
menozis there any plan to support even non-partitioned pens?05:51
cliebow_i assume there is a technical reason they are not05:51
cliebow_if Scottie cant do it....05:52
LaserJockI think it's kinda hard to support a disk that is not partitioned05:53
menozok but the main ltsp server read that pen, even before it was partitioned...05:54
LaserJockI guess the best thing that could be done is to offer to wipe it out and partition it for you, but I think it's a bit of a corner case05:54
menozyep..05:54

menozok!06:16

sbalneavPossibly.  We have to see what impact on performance it will have.06:16

sbalneavWe have to deal with a lot of low end clients, and we constantly have to straddle the line between performance and functionality.06:17
menozok; anyway, I think usb sticks (nowadays) are fare more important than, say, cdroms or floppies... So happy coding! But remember that this work you already done is fantastic, especially here in edubuntu where everything is well-integrated!06:20
menozThank you very much :)06:21
LaserJockogra: ok, edubuntu-artwork uploaded. I'm guessing it'll take up a bit more space as it adds in the human icons06:22

JonNoobhi guys. Need a little assistance... I have a Edubuntu Feisty Server AMD64. I am using thin client in a mixed 100Mbit/Gigabit environment. The problem is my client only will boot sometimes. It seems the problem is NFS which uses UDP protocol. I found a solution to change it to use TCP protocol, but they want me to chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 /bin/bash --login and then cd /etc/mkinitramfs/.... The problem is that there is no directory called thath(mkinitramfs)09:22
JonNoobThe solution is described here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/TroubleShooting09:23

thedmanhello everyone11:00
thedmanI just installed edubuntu in a small private school / 10 clients11:00
sbalneavNice to hear11:00
thedmanThey still need to have the pc's to be able to boot into Windows occasionally, is there an easy way to setup the network so it can get it's dhcp address from the internet router without the edubuntu server trying to answer the dhcp request?11:00
thedmanOr even better can a Windows client use the dhcp server on the edubuntu server for Internet access?11:00
sbalneavSure11:00
sbalneavThe windows box will use an edubuntu supplied dhcp address just fine.11:05
thedmanOkay, I must have something configured wrong then.11:05

thedmanI thought I had everything working at home before I installed, but now it seems even the clients running edubuntu don't have internet access either, some config must have changed.11:15
thedmanIs it safe to say that if internet access works for the edubuntu clients, it will work for Windows clients as well?  I just need to figure what changed.11:17
stgraberthedman: you'll need to set a FORWARD rule in iptables so routing will work for windows clients11:17
stgraberby default edubuntu doesn't route traffic from LAN to WAN11:18
thedmanI see.11:18
thedmanIs there an easy command for that?  I did not change any ip addresses from the default server install.11:18
stgraberIhave a quick script doing that, just let me paste it somewhere11:19
stgraberhttp://paste.stgraber.org/237611:19
stgraber^^ assuming that your LAN is 192.168.0.X (I don't recall what the default one is)11:20
thedmanThank you, yeah that is the default config11:20
