hansinCan anyone recommend on of the various available Japper services/deamons?  I see that jabberd2 and ejabberd are there.  Is the jabber package jabberd14 or something else?  I was hoping to start with one that is easy to configure.  Thanks.12:13

hansinOk, I answered my own question; the Jabber package is the jabberd14.  Not sure if I should go with jabberd2 though.  I know they are two distinct projects.12:33
nealmcbhansin: I'm hearing pretty good things about ejabberd and wildfire01:17
Dessanhansin, I personally love wildfire01:20

hansinYeah, I just noticed that you can download a openfire_XYX.tar.gz file, and it states this next to the download link: "No Java JRE, works on most Unix variants"08:00
hansinSo I bet it would be pretty easy to get it working on Ubuntu Server.08:01

nealmcbstiv2k: are you using aptitude?  I've seen that sort of thing especially with aptitude.  apt-get may work better, though it doesn't keep track of what you intended to install as well....12:01
