Im wondering, are we having any succsess with getting a palette made? [03:26] *for gutsy [03:36] lassegul: I am working on defining a few colors as we speak [03:36] lassegul: look at the pics at the top of the page, they define the colors pretty well [03:37] brown, brown, brown, and a yellowish brown and orangish brown :-) [03:38] i never knew that :) [03:40] that damianvila guy is talented. I never liked that the colour themes got brighter from warty to edgy. His dark red brown thing is way cool [03:46] yepp [03:47] greets all [03:47] btw...the defualt artwork is not really up to a vote [03:47] just to clear that point p now ;-) [03:47] hi troy_s [03:49] yeah, I got thatb but I was hoping that we could get active enough to make that happen i gutsy+ (hungry hippo) tho. [03:49] lassegul: but I intend to include any images that are liked well enough in a community wallpaper package [03:49] kwwii: cool [03:50] main problem is that apparently we can't even get off the ground running when there are two templates already to follow. [03:50] there isn't a single image on that wiki that is even close to the breezy / hoary walls. [03:51] troy_s: true. like the one with the mountains and the lame effects. But some of these just needs more work to be good. [03:52] well not if shuttle starts out of the gate with a distinct and very clear goal. [03:52] troy_s: i dont follow...? [03:52] and yes, quite frankly i am sick to death of fecking wallpapers that aren't anything more than plugin and canned effects. [03:53] i could name five to ten art directors that would not only throw your resume in the garbage but also publically flog your work at the first sight of canned effects / plugin usage. [03:54] troy_s: glass is half empty,eh? [03:55] lassegul: Not at all. [03:55] troy_s: could i send you a .png for feedback? [03:56] lassegul: And what I was trying to get at is that kwwii very clearly states the goal at the top of the wiki page. [03:56] something unique... [03:56] lassegul: I believe that was handed down from 'on high' and that means that he was probably very particular with the request. [03:56] hehe, even if I fscked up the names on the pics :p [03:56] lassegul: You can send me whatever you wish. [03:56] kwwii: Yeah lol. [03:56] troy_s: funnier still is that I even tried to fix it once :p [03:57] troy_s: youve got an email adress? [03:58] kwwii: The good news is that you found both and published them [03:58] kwwii: Although Dapper's wallpaper is simply shite compared to those two. [03:59] yeah, I was thinking about removing it [03:59] (and the file names) [04:00] kwwii: JunkAssDesigns work or whatever his name is. Chris? [04:00] kwwii: i think the warty is a little flat but its colours are really something [04:00] I only included it because it does have the right kind of colors [04:00] kwwii: The damn colours are the only weak part in both of those. Not so much the base, but the fact that shuttle is completely oblique on palettes. [04:00] can't remember his name although I did meet him in person [04:01] kwwii: I think it was Chris, but I can't be certain. [04:05] kwwii: I think if you can sneak steal cheat a triplet or quad colour scheme into the mix with the brown as a base, we could call that a win. [04:06] lassegul: you sending that? i have a nasty bit of turnaround before call today (tomorrow) [04:09] troy_s: not sure if adding anything other than browns/yellow/orange will be useful in creating a pic that will be accepted [04:10] kwwii: More of the same then I assume. It's a hideous state of affairs. [04:12] troy_s: im sorry, im not a native english speaker. what do you mean? [04:12] Ok. Got to jet. Out for now. [04:12] night guys [04:12] btw, my mother was annoyed that "the pretty tree thing with the logo snowflakes"(her words) wasn't an provided option, hehe [04:12] (or morning) [04:13] troy_s: bye [04:13] elkbuntu: Largely because it is again -- more evocative. [04:13] troy_s, yes. explain that to a user though [04:13] elkbuntu: It is pretty easy to turn a mainstream user's attention simply by embracing something that communicates SOMETHING. [04:14] elkbuntu: You don't need to -- your mainstream user will know those things. As should anyone calling themselves a designer or what not. [04:14] Once again, the cornerstones of all successful design: Audience and Communication === troy_s outs. [04:16] kwwii: whats the audience and what do we want to communicate? [04:21] lassegul: yepp, I am working on several things (and several other projects) [04:22] kwwii: ok. you have a worklog, portfolio or something? [04:23] lassegul: of everything I have done artistically you mean? [04:24] kwwii: no, ubuntu-wise. Ive obviously seen the edgy thing (which i presume you made?), but have you done any other ubuntu stuff that didnt go official? [04:24] well, I have done several kubuntu releases [04:24] im sorry for unclear english [04:25] and I did feisty for ubuntu, not edgy [04:25] kwwii for feisty? What did you do? [04:25] pretty much everything [04:26] the ubuntu logo at usplash is really nice. Thats the thing that really blew me off, just by adding a little backlight to it, looked great. [04:27] blew me off is very wrong use of words [04:28] anyways, if you made it, i just wanted to say, it looks great. [04:38] kwwii: you know who made that ubuntu chocholate wp? [04:39] lassegul: nope [04:44] kwwii: but you dont like the one made by damianvila? I thought it was nice?
