LamegoI am trying to use schroot with a file based schroot, and it is failing on the setup phase, and according to launchpad there is a bug report about it for, with 1 year age10:32

FujitsuLamego: Failing how?10:32
Lamegoschroot is not a builder, it's a chroot utility10:32
FujitsuAnd you should probably use LVM... it's a lot better..10:32
FujitsuAnd works.10:32
LamegoI: Executing 20network setup-start ok10:32
Lamego`/etc/resolv.conf' -> `/var/lib/schroot/mount/feisty.i386-55bc8aaf-6ddc-419c-9b47-c6b38919b277/etc/resolv.conf'10:32

FujitsuI don't know anyone who uses the file-based method.10:32
Lamegowell, for that I would need to have LVM, which is a bit late to decide now that have the entire system installed :P10:33
FujitsuAh.10:33
StevenKLamego: If you have a partition that can be resized down, you can create an LVM parition just for schroot.10:34
Lamegook, I will switch to LVM if there is no another solution, but maybe we should fix the schroot bug :P ?10:34
Lamegohttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/schroot/+bug/5486710:35
ubotuLaunchpad bug 54867 in schroot "Fails when /etc/resolv.conf is set for dynamic updates" [Undecided,Confirmed] 10:35
Lamegothe problem is not related resolv.conf, I have disabled that script and it fails in the next10:35
StevenKMaybe we could fix it. Do you feel lucky? :-P10:35
Lamegothere must be something wrong with the mount10:35
LamegoStevenK, well, schroot is MOTU maintained, I expect your best effort :)10:36

LamegoStevenK, if you are a core-dev and have no time for MOTU, resign :)10:38
StevenKMmmm, no.10:39
StevenKLamego: Right, I see why it fails. What that script should do is have cp follow symlinks.10:39
LamegoI didn't understood that comment on the bug report, which links are you refering to ?10:40
StevenKLamego: When /etc/resolv.conf is dynamically updated, it's actually a symlink into /var/run.10:40
=== neversfelde|mobi [n=neversfe@82.113.106.1] has joined #ubuntu-motu
Lamegook, that bug report is not correct10:40
Lamegoor maybe I am hitting another bug10:41
StevenKYou don't get that error?10:41
LamegoI have a plain /etc/resolv.conf10:41
LamegoI get the same issue, during resolv.conf , but is not link related, there are no links on the copy10:41
StevenKAnd yet you can get cp: cannot create regular file ?10:41
Lamegomy understand on how schroot works with file based is: 1 - extract, 2 runs some scripts10:41
Lamegowell, that cp is part of the /etc/schroot/setup.d/30passwd10:42
Lamegoops10:42
Lamego/etc/schroot/setup.d/20network10:42
StevenKYup.10:42
StevenKLamego: Humour me, and change 'cp $VERBOSE' to 'cp -L $VERBOSE'10:43
LamegoI don't understand the reasoning (I don't see any links on this), but I will try10:43
StevenKYes, hence the humour me. :-)10:44
Lamegonothing changes10:44
Lamegoagain, my /etc/resolv.conf is a plain text file, not a link10:44
LamegoI will need to debug during the setup10:45
Lamegothere is something wrong with the chroot path10:45
StevenKLamego: Can you run schroot with --debug and pastebin that?10:47
Lamegook, but meanwhile i did some debug, and there is some wrong path wise10:47
StevenKMaybe the chroot path doesn't contain /etc?10:47
Lamegoi have added10:47

jribsoren: is 1.4.0 being uploaded instead of 1.5.0 for virtualbox?11:59
sorenjrib: Yes.12:00
jribsoren: I ask because X failed to load after installing guest additions in gutsy because of some virtualbox bug in 1.4.0.  I needed to either workaround by adding xinerama option to xorg.conf or upgrade to 1.5.012:01
sorenjrib: ..well it looks like an svn version.12:01
sorenjrib: I don't know how close it is to 1.5.0.12:02
jribah, then maybe it has the fix included12:02
jribgusty as the guest btw12:02
sorenjrib: 1.5.0 just came out, didn't it? Like hours ago?12:03
jribyeah, recently12:04
