mvo_has anyone here used the xserver-xorg-core-dbg package yet? and give me a quick intro how to use it so that gdb knows about the symbols :) ?11:45
ubotuNew bug: #137234 in xorg (main) "[gutsy]  Second display not enabled with "intel" video driver" [Undecided,New]  https://launchpad.net/bugs/13723411:45

brycetepsipakki: yeah, that's the issue I'm still working on06:16
tepsipakkibryce: here is the debdiff from the changes I made: http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/dpkg/xserver/xserver.debdiff08:03
tepsipakkidisabled a bunch of fedora patches..08:03
bryceok thanks08:04
tepsipakkihopefully the explanations make sense .)08:05
tepsipakki:)08:05
tepsipakkinow telly ->08:05
brycetepsipakki: ok I've incorporated those changes08:13
mvo_I'm hunting the nvidia+compiz+glx crash issue currently and have some more backtraces: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/130325/comments/34 now I wonder if this is somehow releated to the patches we appy to the xserver08:45
ubotuLaunchpad bug 130325 in xorg "[nvidia-glx-new]  glxgears, 3d apps crash X when using compiz-fusion (gutsy)" [Undecided,Confirmed]  08:45
mvo_is there a "easy" way to build xserver-xorg-core wit only a minimal patch set? it seems like quite a few are required so that it builds at all08:46
brycehmm, I've not tried building a patch-less xserver yet08:46
brycemvo, fwiw, there is a 12ubuntu3 out just now08:47
bryceI did not see any fixes in that which would address this issue, but several fixes are for low level things like linked list bounds in mesa, etc. which I could imagine might have an effect08:51
brycealso, I am working on a 12ubuntu4 which will have much, much improved mesa support and a lot of fixes to help you with compiz stuff, that are cherrypicked from fedora08:52
bryceI am hoping the 12ubuntu3 shows at least some improvements for you with compiz; I had an eye out especially for compiz-related fixes08:53
brycemvo, one issue with your backtraces is that it looks like you don't have debug symbols turned on08:53
jcristaudebug symbols for nvidia_drv.so? hahaha08:54
jcristau:)08:54
bryceah, heh true08:55

mvo_bryce: thanks! I will give ubuntu3 a go tomorrow and I'm happy to test ubuntu4 when its available. I have xserver-xorg-core-dbg installed, but it of course does not really help with nvidia :)09:55
ubotuNew bug: #119559 in compiz (main) "Totem screen where the video shows kind of acts wierd with desktop effects enabled (dup-of: 122979)" [Undecided,Confirmed]  https://launchpad.net/bugs/11955910:00
mvo_bryce: I managed to contact one of their engeniers and send some debug information10:12
brycehopefully we'll hear a fix10:15
brycemvo, btw, did you and glatzor talk about doing a displayconfig-gtk release?10:15
mvo_no, not yet10:17
