xjkxon my freezes i cant even open any software :p its a total freeze, my HD leds keep reading fast and i can not move, then i think there is no way to detect whats going wrong12:50
xjkxIf i could open top at least12:50
xjkxI'd see who is getting the processor for so long12:50
xjkxor getting much memory12:50
Blank___actually, i might be able to help with that12:51
Blank___i had a fedora machine that was running really really slowly, but no clues in the system monitor12:51

xjkxwhy would it freeze a machine12:52
Blank___i don't know12:52
Blank___but it was definitely the problem12:52

Blank___but i didnt have my real network connected12:52

Blank___ah right12:56
Blank___i pretty much just stumbled on the answer in the website just then :(12:56

xjkxwhat do you mean?12:58
Blank___ah wait12:59
Blank___never mind12:59

Blank___i'm hoping xubuntu is better than fedora12:59
Blank___and so far it appears to be a much more viable alternative12:59
xjkxI like xubuntu more than fedora01:00

xjkxehehehe welcome to the lightweight country01:00
Blank___the normal version also needs something like that01:00

Blank___NFS server problems01:01
Blank___SELinux problems01:01
Blank___Firewall problems01:01
xjkxit uses iptables right? what was the problem with it?01:02
Blank___it wasn't that01:02
Blank___it was configuring ports01:02
Blank___the gui was useless for custom ports01:02
Blank___i had to add it to a conf file01:02
xjkxUhmm. I saw no attractive in fedora, really01:03

Blank___that gui i'm referring to is this firewall configuration tool01:04

karelIs it possible to remap the shortcuts for window management (mainly move window to enxt desktop etc.) of xfce?03:56
vinzeI thought so... Wait a minute.03:56
vinzekarel, in Applications->Settings->Window Manager Settings, you go to the Keyboard tab where you create a new profile03:57
karelyes, did that03:58
vinzeYou should then be able to edit the shortcuts03:58
karelwell yes, you can set commands there, but I've no idea what the commands are that are used standard...03:58
vinzeAren't they already set by default?03:59
karelit's ctrl + end to move to next desktop04:00
vinzeI don't have Ctrl+End set anywhere...04:01
karelthat's my point, I have no idea how I could remap it...04:01
vinzeYou also don't have it set?04:02
karelno, it's standard configuration04:02
TheSheepkarel: just create a new profile04:02
TheSheepkarel: at the top left04:03
vinzekarel, could you post a screenshot or something?04:03
karelWhen I have a window (focus) and I press ctrl + alt + end (my bad, forgot the alt), the window moves to the next virtual desktop. I can set in keyboard preferences shortcuts for terminal commands (I've set ctrl + alt + t == gnome-terminal for example), but I don't know if it's possible to do this for ctrl + alt + end (don't know the command)...04:06
vinzeNo, karel, not the keyboard shortcuts04:06
vinzeYou need to go to Applications->Settings->Window Manager Settings04:06
vinzeAnd *then* the Keyboard tab04:06
kareloh excuse me, I overlooked, thanks a lot :D04:07
vinze;-) No problem04:07
karelbtw, I come from an ubuntu install, suppose I want to use xfce exclusively, what do you guys suggest I do? (remove gnome stuff? nothing? ...)04:08

karelthanks :)04:15
karelwhen you turn off xubuntu and restart it, does it open up the applications you had and does it "remember" where you where? (when you typed something in office but didn't save)04:26
vinzeIt could re-open your applications but they might not recover what you did04:26

karelyeah swap partition is harddrive ;)04:28
karelbut didn't know if it uses swap or it's own partition04:29
vinzeYeah but I think it erases swap every time on boot04:29
