HBBMHelo! I have downloaded the xubuntu-desktop on my Ubuntu Feity Fawn, but didn't got the double bars (botton/top) like in xubuntu dist. How can I get these bars? Is there any package or it's a configuration set? Is it present in xubuntu dist. only? Good evening, good morning, good afternoon.03:38
kennobakaHBBM: I'm guessing you'll need to set the program to start when gnome starts (assuming you're using gnome)03:40
kennobakaI believe it's gnome-panel03:40
HBBMkennoabaka, I'm using the XFCE session.03:42
HBBMkennoabaka, I have the gnome-panel package installed too.03:44
kennobakawell, I've run gnome-panel in fluxbox before - I don't know how to do it in xfce, but if you have them installed, it could work03:44
kennobakaoh, xfce.org says panel(s) are supported through a panel manager03:45
HBBMkennoabaka, is the gonome-panel those double bars?03:46

saloxhow fist do u think Xubuntu is ?10:18
Jester45just not right away10:18
Jester45fast? dependso n the hardware10:19
saloxfast10:19
TheSheepit's very fast on fast hardware and very slow on slow hardware10:20
saloxcompared with other linux distro's10:20
Jester45i would say 300mhz 192 mb ram is useable10:20
TheSheepand something in between on medium hardware10:20
TheSheepsalox: same10:20
TheSheepsalox: xfce on xubuntu is about as fast as xfce on suse or on redhat10:20
Jester45with 300mhx you would have to stay away from beryl or some other heavy things10:20
saloxhey10:21
Jester45yeh10:21
saloxi have been tested 10-20  linux distro10:22
saloxnot all the linux distro are moving the same way10:22
saloxi mean speed10:22
saloxok ?10:22
salox!10:22

TheSheepcommand line interface damn small linux10:27

Jester45its quite nice10:28
TheSheepJester45: I though dsl is under 60MB10:28
TheSheepJester45: *with* graphics10:28
neozenTheSheep: that's compressed onto a disk image10:29
neozenTheSheep: I believe...10:29
neozenTheSheep: this gets uncompressed around boot time10:30
saloxtry fedora 710:30
saloxit is a really fast distro10:30
salox;)10:30
Jester45you need about 200mb to install10:31
TheSheepneozen: ah, right, but not whole10:31
Jester45but after an install you can remove a 100 or so of it10:32
TheSheepneozen: you can keep it in unionfs10:32
Jester45the cd version is 500mb or less and allways will be10:32
Jester4550*10:32
TheSheepI actually played with making a small install of linux with xfce and a browser10:34
TheSheepI managed to shave off ArchLinux to under 200MB, uncompressed10:34

monteslunothing12:26
monteslualso tried uncommenting the line about $vncStartup12:27

Mahasamatmanhello12:31
Jester45hi12:31
TheSheepmonteslu: edit your .xsession and put xfce4-session there12:32
Jester45TheSheep: wouldnt the background being up mean xfce started12:32
Jester45because xfdesktop controls it12:32
TheSheepJester45: there is no single 'xfce' to start12:33
TheSheepJester45: xfdesktop and other parts of xfce are all pretty separate12:33
MahasamatmanI just got my sony picturebook up with fiesty. the screen is of course 1024x480. when I open most config windows the bottom half of the window is off the screen and there is no way i can see to resize the height. how can i take care of this. xfce btw12:34
Jester45TheSheep: but if he didnt start xfdesktop alone it would of had to start with xfce4-session12:34
TheSheepMahasamatman: alt+shift+arrows allow you to resize windows12:34
Jester45unless.... it was the defualt Xorg screen12:35
MahasamatmanTheSheep the largest screen is being used.12:35
