solarbabyHow do you ask MythTV to keep looking for a Movie until it finally comes out?00:05
solarbabyIt looks like I can do that through the Mythweb00:10
solarbabyI guess thats good enough..00:10
solarbabyit would appear that Title Search is buggy..  you can only have 2 Active Title Searches running in your scheduler at any one time00:21
solarbabyI am inputting Title Searches through MythWeb00:21
MythbuntuGuest19Ive just downloaded the off of the Downloads page, when I boot from the CD it tells me that this is a "Live CD-ROM for Mythbuntu 7.1, built on 20070730"  when I click enter to boot it loads into a gui interface with only a sand coloured background and mouse cursor... then it just stays there, I can use the mouse but nothing else loads... any suggestions?01:01
solarbabyI'd burn the cd much slower01:03
MythbuntuGuest19okay, also wondering if this is the normal progression of events?  Should I get a install screen after the live CD loads?01:04
solarbabyAfter the install cd boots up you should have a full desktop envirement and 2 icons on your desktop one for install and one for booting into live cd mythtv frontend..  you should also have applications tookbar on the top of the screen and a clock etc01:05
solarbabythere will be no password01:05
MythbuntuGuest19great thanks for your help!01:06
solarbabyAnytime.. G'luck and Welcome01:06

ckwI am trying to setup mythtv under 7.10 using a Hauppauge PVR-350 which works flawlessly under 7.04...previously i had upgraded a working setup on 7.04 to 7.10 and it at least came up...now on this fresh install of 710 the backend setup wont even detect the card....any knowledge out there tonight on this issue?04:48
solarbabyI use the Hauppauge PVR 350, and I never experienced that problem04:49
ckwsolarbaby:when i installed  i simply selected mythtv in synaptic and let it install all relevant packages...do you see any potential issues with that?04:52
dwf_starbandI think the mythbuntu control center will set it all up for you, you can get it from the add/remove program04:54
dwf_starbandthats what im in the process of doing with 7.10 right now04:54
ckwdwf_starband:i wondered about that....let me grab that and see what happens...thanks04:55
dwf_starbandok04:55
frank23ckw: do you have mplayer installed?04:55
frank23ckw: try mplayer /dev/video004:56
dwf_starbandim just now in the process of a clean 7.10 install, so im not sure what i have right now04:56
frank23its just to test the pvr-35004:57
ckwfrank23:hang on let me see04:59
ckwfrank23:mplayer is up and running....what is the test procedure?05:02
frank23from a terminal run  mplayer /dev/video005:03
tazgodxhe means commandline, type  "mplayer /dev/video0"05:03
ckwfrank23:10-405:03
frank23at least I think it's /dev/video005:04
tazgodxthink so...05:04
ckwfrank23:mplayer: could not connect to socket05:06
ckwmplayer: No such file or directory05:06
ckwFailed to open LIRC support. You will not be able to use your remote control.05:06
ckwPlaying /dev/video0.05:06

ckwFailed to open /dev/video0.05:06
tazgodxhmmm05:07
tazgodxseems weird, i ahve a 350, and no problems05:07
tazgodxhow did you install?05:07
tazgodxubuntu, and hten mythtv after? or mythbuntu?05:07
ckwtazgodx:indeed...esp.since the card works over on the windows side and if i reinstall to 7.04 it works like a champ...go figure05:08
ckwtazgodx:i installed 7.10 from the cd...then used synaptic and checked mythtv and then apply and here i am05:09
ckwi did not check any of the mythbuntu stuff...i was under the impression that was not necessary and i could set it up just as i did on 7.0405:09
tazgodxwell, i recommend mythbuntu05:10
tazgodxit makes everything easier05:10
ckwtazgodx: i am about to try that now05:10
tazgodxinstalling mytbuntu control center?05:10
ckwtazgodx:yes05:11
frank23ckw: I doubt it will make a difference but you can try.05:11
tazgodxyeah, i can't think of much of a change to the 350 drivers. but can't hurt05:11
ckwfrank23:i agree...the fact that the card cant be polled is not encouraging05:12
tazgodxi have the 7.10 mythbuntu CD and installed with that, and it worked perfect05:12
frank23ckw: go in a terminal05:12
ckwfrank23:i am there05:12
frank23then    sudo rmmod ivtv05:12
frank23sudo modprobe ivtv05:13

frank23well there's your problem. But you should have that firmware in a new gutsy install05:16
ckwfrank23:hmmmnnn...ok....is there a way to manually provide the firmware?05:18
frank23i'm pretty sure it should be there by default. did you change kernel or anything like that?05:20
ckwhmmmnnnn...i was wrestling with a video card issue and had to install a legacy driver....if i remember correctly it had to recompile a kernel05:22
frank23ckw: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Install_IVTV_Troubleshooting05:22
ckwfrank23:i'll check it out....thanks05:23

MythbuntuGuest89I've been battling a freeze in the mythbuntu install @ 94% done. Details are here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=589805 Any ideas?06:37
MythbuntuGuest89Bueller?06:42
MythbuntuGuest89Is anyone actually out there?06:44
MythbuntuGuest89Anyone at all, feel free to say anything so I know that at least my session is working06:45
dwf_starband2hello06:45
MythbuntuGuest89Ok cool, I was begining to wonder06:46
dwf_starband2anytime06:46
MythbuntuGuest89did you see my original question?06:46
dwf_starband2no i just loged back on at 21:3906:47
MythbuntuGuest89Ok, here it is: I've been battling a freeze in the mythbuntu install @ 94% done. Details are here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=589805 Any ideas?06:47
MythbuntuGuest89If you don't know, that's cool, I can try again tomorrow06:48
dwf_starband2sorry, im pretty new myself, ive been using ubuntu for almost a year, but still learning, installed mythbuntu on one computer and the control center on a fresh install of 7.1006:48
dwf_starband2am still trying to get it all figured out06:48
MythbuntuGuest89that's cool06:49
foxbuntuMythbuntuGuest89, this is a known issue06:49
foxbuntuYou are installing using the Ati Video drivers correct?06:49
MythbuntuGuest89No, actually nvidia06:50
foxbuntureally?06:50
foxbuntuthats strange06:50
MythbuntuGuest89I have a geforce fx 5500 so I'm using the nvidia_new driver06:50
foxbuntuany errors or does it just totaly hang up?06:50
MythbuntuGuest89just totally hangs up, there's some screenshots on the ubuntu forums post I linked to above06:51
MythbuntuGuest89another user told me he didn't see anything unusual06:51
foxbuntubear with me I am reading your post here06:52
MythbuntuGuest89cool, thanks06:52
foxbuntuok...2 questions06:54
MythbuntuGuest89ok, shoot06:54
foxbuntuwhat tuner card are you using, and I assume you are using the final release version of MB?06:54
MythbuntuGuest89the tuner card is a hauppauge pvr-350, the mythbuntu ISO I d/l was the 7.10 final, as far as I know (I just got it on Monday, which I know is when it released)06:55
MythbuntuGuest89The iso file reads: mythbuntu-7.10-i386 and is 499 MB, is that the final?06:56
foxbuntuMythbuntuGuest89, ok...as I know people have had issues with the PVR-350...try removing it and reinstalling06:57
foxbuntuthats the final06:57
foxbuntuI am not sure why the 350 is such an issue, but I personally use 2 150-MCE's06:58
dwf_starband2in myth-tv setup is it acceptable to use the ip address my backend/frontend uses on my network for the IP address and the Master Server Address?06:58
dwf_starband2i plan on having other frontends06:58
MythbuntuGuest89when you say re-install, do you mean literally take it out of it's PCI slot and put it back in or something else, because I'm doing a clean install so I've never installed any drivers, etc for it06:58
foxbuntudwf_starband2, you got it06:58
foxbuntuMythbuntuGuest89, sorry to be clear, pull the card out (leave it out) and reinstall Mythbuntu06:59
dwf_starband2why cant i connect to the backend then, even though its on the same computer?06:59
foxbuntudwf_starband2, did you set the backend to allow remote connections?06:59
dwf_starband2i think so, should that matter on the same comptuer?07:00
foxbuntuyes07:00
dwf_starband2was that in the control center?07:00
foxbuntubecuase MySQL security by default binds the listening IP to the loopback (127.0.0.1)07:00
foxbuntudwf_starband2, you can change it in MCC07:00
MythbuntuGuest89ok, I'll give that a shot. I'll post my results on my ubuntu forum thread tomorrow. foxbuntu--thanks for the help07:01
foxbuntuMythbuntuGuest89, np07:01
dwf_starband2i have mysql service set to enable07:03
foxbuntuis it applied?07:03
dwf_starband2yes07:03
dwf_starband2i just disabled it, and applied and now its greyed out07:04
foxbuntutry to disable it and then re-enable it07:04
foxbuntuwhat changes did it say it was going to make?07:04
dwf_starband2remove mysql something07:05
dwf_starband2server maybe07:05
foxbuntumysql-server?07:05
dwf_starband2im not sure, i just clicked ok07:05
foxbuntuis this a fresh install?07:06
dwf_starband2yes, fresh 7.10 with mcc installed right after07:06
foxbuntuok07:06
foxbuntu'go to the main tab of MCC and set it to be a master backend07:07
foxbuntuand apply that and see what is days07:07
foxbuntusays*07:07
dwf_starband2its already selected as primary backend07:07
dwf_starband2frontend07:07
dwf_starband2and ubuntu desktop07:08
foxbuntuchange the role to something else and then back07:08
dwf_starband2ok07:08
dwf_starband2im changing to no backend, then ill reselect it07:08
foxbuntuk07:08
dwf_starband2ok after reselecting, the mysql services is still greyed out07:11
dwf_starband2do i need to run the setup again?07:11
foxbuntudid it say it was installing some fun stuff?07:11
dwf_starband2not really07:12
dwf_starband2i can do it again and pay better attention, what specificly am i looking for?07:12
dwf_starband2the only thing i can think of is i was reading http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=570073&highlight=mysql which said to delete ~.mythtv/mysql.txt07:14
dwf_starband2 etc/mythtv/mysql.txt is still there though07:15
drfoz12does anybody know of an up to date how-to for getting tv out working on a pvr-350?07:16
dwf_starband2i just noticed a lightbulb at the top of my screen, says update information MythTV-Database reconfigure required,07:22
dwf_starband2The mythtv-database package was upgraded or installed, but was unable to contact a MySQL server.07:22
dwf_starband2If you were in the process of dist-upgrading, this is normal as mysql-server is stopped for a portion of the upgrade.07:22
dwf_starband2If this is a fresh package installation, verify that mysql-server is installed and running.  Once you have verified the server is running, you can reconfigure the package by running 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database'.07:22
dwf_starband2If your root password or location of the MySQL server are non standard, you can also update them via 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database'.07:22

EsineHey. Where are the source packages for weekly MythTV Trunk builds?12:39
EsineIt seems your current trunk build has a horrible horrible problem when scanning for new channels, segfaults! (at least in DVB networks)12:40
Esineso I was hoping of trying the latest SVN trunk if it's been fixed.. and I'd like to use dpkg for managing the packages instead of manually compiling and installing12:41
