* blueyed cannot see the bug06:27
persiablueyed: I don't use edge, but thanks anyway :)06:27
blueyedpersia: does it redirect to launchpad.net then - or do you see an error?06:27
persiablueyed: I remove "edge" from all URLs, so it just works.  If I didn't, I'd see the edge pages.06:28
persiaDarkMageZ: Which bug is yours?  147652?06:28
persiaDarkMageZ: I've made it public: no sensitive information.06:30
DarkMageZpersia, i didn't file it as it was already reported06:30
persiaDarkMageZ: Ah.  Just checking.  You should be all set now.06:31
nxvlhi09:05
nxvli'm reading https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash to debug a crash to report it09:05
nxvlbut i don't find the SysRq key09:06
persianxvl: Do you have an AT-style keyboard?  It's usually the same as the printscreen key.09:06
nxvlPetSys?09:07
jeromegnxvl : what do you need that key for ?09:07
nxvljeromeg: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash09:07
jeromegnxvl : on my computer Sys Rq is written on the print screen key09:08
nxvlon mi PC it does, on mi laptop dont :S09:08
nxvland i need it on my laptop09:09
jeromegnxvl : do you have the doc of your laptop ?09:09
nxvljeromeg: nop09:09
nxvlkind of ole09:09
persianxvl: If you have a USB keyboard, you might be able to attach that to the laptop.09:09
nxvlgot it 3 years from now09:09
nxvli haven't09:09
nxvlit must be PetSys09:10
nxvlbut it doesn't work09:10
persianxvl: Another possibility would be that if your laptop has a keyboard port, but you may need to reboot to be able to get the BIOS to use the external keyboard.09:10
nxvli will reproduce it via ssh09:11
nxvlmm09:13
nxvlthere is no way, it crashes everything09:14
nxvl:S09:14
jeromegwhat kind of crash ?09:14
nxvlwhen i run nmap using wifi09:14
nxvlthe machine stop working09:14
nxvland the monitor freezes09:15
nxvlbut if i use wired conection it work09:15
jeromegmmm09:15
jeromegnot nice :)09:15
nxvlnoup09:15
nxvland it even less nicer if you work on IT security09:16

jeromegnxvl : did you report the bug ?09:16
nxvljeromeg: nop, i'm debuging it to report it09:17
jeromegnxvl : you don't get any crash report ?09:17
nxvli want to debug it to have enought information09:17
nxvljeromeg: nop09:17
nxvlit stops working, so i think it can even log the event09:17
=== asac_ is now known as asac
nxvlin the bash history i don't see the command09:19
nxvlso it even log it there09:19
jeromegnxvl : you can try this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace09:20
persiajeromeg: You'll do better asking for a test here.  What do you need tested?09:23
nxvlit crashes and i have got no respond09:24
nxvli hope something is logged on the file09:24
jeromegpersia : bug 15733209:26
nxvlnoup09:26
persiajeromeg: jpatrick seems on it now :)09:26
jeromegpersia : yep, just to let you know :)09:26
nxvltext file empty09:26
persianxvl: If you're getting a hard system freeze, and can't get a backtrace, it's probably a kernel or driver issue.  Try the Debugging Kernel Issues page for hints.  Perhaps you'll need to find a way to use sysreq somehow...09:27
nxvlpersia: the only way it shows, is to simulate it with a commando, but i can't use commands09:28
nxvli also think the key i'm pressing is the right one, but it can even show the logs09:29
nxvlthe most weird think is that if i use 'nmap host > file' somehow the file has the results09:30

dalinianThanks, I don't know if I'm in the right place, but I've lost sound on my Gutsy install.14:15
persiadalinian: Have you searched for other bugs?14:16
dalinianI have found other references to the issue.14:16

dalinianHow do you look up that specific bug?  Google gives me 692 hits.14:18
dalinianahh found it14:19

persiaCould someone take a look at bug 152942, and subscribe me if there's no reason I shouldn't see it?16:07
Hobbseepersia: i'd guess it's a launchpad bug, or a security bug.16:09
cousin_luigihello16:10
persiaHobbsee: Perhaps.  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacity/+bug/147521 is marked as a duplicate, but Venkat wasn't verbose enough for me to have any idea to fix it.  I was hoping for another reporter who might be clearer.16:10
UbotwoLaunchpad bug 147521 in audacity "Audacity install does not contain menu" [Undecided,New]16:10
persiacousin_luigi: Welcome.16:10
Hobbseeahhh16:10
cousin_luigito whom do I report a bug for an universe package?16:10
persiaUbotwo: Thank you.  I've been missing the help.16:10
Ubotwopersia: Error: "Thank" is not a valid command.16:10
Hobbseeokay, so i can access it that way.16:10
persiacousin_luigi: You'll want to report it to Launchpad.  We can help you with the process in here, if you like.16:11
Hobbseeoh, no, i'm going backwards16:11
persiaHobbsee: Right.  You, too, can see the report without enough information.  Where can I ask?16:11
cousin_luigiit's a very minor issue, but I've never done it16:11
cousin_luiginot sure how to proceed16:11
persiacousin_luigi: What's the problem?16:11
cousin_luigia mistype in a locale translation16:12
persiacousin_luigi: OK.  Which program?16:12
cousin_luigikvirc16:12
Hobbseepersia: on #launchpad.  but i think people are still flying16:12
persiacousin_luigi: The first step is to take a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kvirc to see if you can find a match.16:13
cousin_luigipersia: it's not there16:14
persiaHobbsee: Even if they are at sea level, it's not exactly prime time :)  I'll check there next week (if the bug is still quiet), and just put off the triage for this package.16:14
Hobbseepersia: they'r eon boston time16:14
Hobbseeatm16:14
persiacousin_luigi: OK.  I wasn't sure if it was bug #12205216:14
cousin_luigiok16:14
cousin_luigishould I register an account to post it?16:15
persiacousin_luigi: Yes.  You'll want to register a launchpad account.  It just takes your name and email, so that the system can let you know when progress is made on the bug.16:15
cousin_luigipersia: should I also report the offset?16:23
cousin_luigithanks, see you at the next bug!:P16:26

DjpenguinHi guys, I need some help. I got ubuntu for my g4 and booted from a cd. Now I need help so it can connect with my airport. How do I do that?22:31
pedro_Djpenguin, better to ask in #ubuntu22:31
sashimihello everybody22:36
tusharbhi sashimi22:37
sashimiI think I am experimenting a bug with vfat support O_o22:37
sashimiI have a psp, with a 4Gb MemStick in it. The psp is plugged into USB to my Linux box. fdisk says it is W95 FAT32 (LBA)22:39
sashimiI deleted some files from the MemStick straight from the PSP menu, before plugging it in. So I am now at 3155Mb free space. Linux says there is only 376Mb free space22:41
sashimiThe odd thing22:41
sashimiI plugged it in the same way on a windows box22:41
sashimiand windows gives the good amount of free space22:42
sashimiso I guess there must be something wrong with what the linux kernel reads on the FAT32 partition22:42
sashimianother odd thing: i can correct it by doing an fsck.vfat -a on the corresponding partition (which detects the bad free cluster summary...)22:48
sashimivery odd22:48
