=== LaserJoc1 is now known as LaserJock === pauljw_ is now known as pauljw [09:26] Hello, is there anyone around to help out? === ogra1 is now known as ogra [16:31] hi. is there alternative install cd for edubuntu? I could not find any, and I have previous installation using lvm. i need to reinstall, as the upgrade process failed [16:31] it left me w/o wifi card working, and no X [16:34] the server CD is the alternative CD [16:34] ogra, thanks [16:34] :) [18:41] Afternoon all [18:48] ogra, sbalneav: got my baggage :) will be back in 15 minutes [18:49] yay [18:51] stgraber: Yay! [18:53] ogra, sbalneav,RichEd: Which room are you in ? [18:53] Well, I'm up in the hotel room. [18:54] ok :) [18:54] Ollie's downstairs, I beleive [18:54] he's next to me [18:54] i'm checked into room 439 ... but now on 3rd floor [20:13] Back [20:15] moquist: are you coming down today? [20:21] the third ogra in the channel :) [20:21] oh no, "ogra" disconnected :), so only two [20:21] Our cloning program is finally bearing fruit. [20:22] heh [20:23] right, I think we should be good with three or four ogra :) one for cmpc, one for LTSP, one for Edubuntu desktop and one for the paper part of the work :) [20:26] And one just to look tres sexy :) [20:27] ogra__, I am working on developing a School Diary for a cmpc in venezuela. do you know of any proyect already in progress ? [20:27] anyone know about any apps that might help with a school diary [20:27] ? [20:28] Hmm [20:28] not working ? [20:28] Well, I've used phpgroupware quite a bit [20:29] it's got a group scheduler, group notes, etc [20:29] effie_jayx: Have you looked at that? Or is there something specific to a school diary that isn't covered by that? [20:30] sbalneav, intel wants some desktop app [20:31] the idea is to have a client/master app where the teacher asigns homework and the kids and the parents can refer to later [20:32] so I am thinking of going desktop app [20:33] we're looking into italc for hardy ... which is actually a session management app to manage the students desktpos (send messages, lock down the desktop etc) ... probably it would make sense to have such a functionallity as a plugin to it [20:34] but good thing is the app will be FOSS [20:34] ogra: plugin support for italc is on the todolist but not implemented AFAIK, so that would currently be an ugly patch :) [20:34] we were emphatic on it and intel seems to be ok with it [20:34] meh [20:35] effie_jayx, sounds cool to me [20:35] ogra: http://italc.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Roadmap [20:35] effie_jayx, if you have some code, it would be good to contact MOTU to get it packaged :) [20:36] ogra, we just started yesterday [20:37] Wonder if something could be done via avahi [20:37] ogra, intel didn't give us the CMPC til friday [20:37] and we almost had to buy them :S [20:37] effie_jayx, "if you have some code" :) [20:37] really ? [20:37] thats harsh [20:39] dtrask: yep [20:39] will probably leave within an hour or two [20:39] dtrask: you? [20:39] ogra, sbalneav: already in town? [20:39] moquist: I'm here....your check is here....your server is here...room 503 [20:39] Oh, geez. I'd better get there fast. :) [20:39] moquist: we all are at Hotel@MIT [20:40] moquist, yup, we had two days of fosscamp already [20:40] cool! [20:40] ogra, we hope to have something fast... Intel was left stranded and they are pressed for time... [20:40] ogra, a debian nm is trying to solve the pen bit [20:40] moquist: very nice place! [20:40] Oh, right. I couldn't go to FOSS Camp and so forgot about it. :p [20:40] moquist: so hurry up dude! [20:40] effie_jayx, pen bit ? [20:40] moquist: valet parking $28...park yourself $22 [20:41] dtrask: turns out I'm not driving down. My wife's gonna drop me off so my car can get repaired during the week. [20:41] dtrask: My wife will pick me up and I'll get my car and drive myself up to BTS. [20:41] why did you break it in the first place ? [20:42] Just trying a little automotive hack, you know... the compiler had a bug I didn't know about, and before you knew it I had no more brakes. *shrug* [20:42] heh [20:42] who needs breakes if there are anchors [20:43] I got the cheap model without the anchors. :( :( :( [20:43] LaserJock: LASERJOCK!!!!!!!!!!!! [20:43] ah, indeed, adding that as extra costs extra [20:44] I thought about an aftermarket anchor, but they're usually made of cheap plastic and they break off on telephone poles, other cars, pedestrians, small pets, etc. [20:44] Oh - gotta get my car to the mechanic by 5. Gotta run. :) [20:44] see you :) [20:44] hi moquist [20:44] bye moquist [20:44] heh [20:44] good afternoon ogra [20:44] ogra, the CM has a pen with which people can write and that appears on screen [20:45] moquist: Yes I am [20:45] there is an app [20:45] effie_jayx, i'm supposed to get that these days from intel, it will be included in the edubuntu image [20:45] LaserJock: are you here? Or there? [20:45] dtrask, he's there :( [20:45] dtrask: there [20:45] anybody got xaos installed? [20:46] LaserJock: damn! [20:46] * ogra raises hand [20:46] I need a test of xaos -fullscreen [20:46] ogra@laptop:~$ xaos -fullscreen [20:46] X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) [20:46] gah [20:46] ok [20:46] and i dont run compiz ... i thought that one was compiz spcific [20:46] that's what I got an andother reporter [20:47] ogra: is there a bug open about it? [20:47] ogra: I didn't seen Edubuntu specs listed in the Boston blueprint list [20:48] are they hiding somewhere or have they not be registered yet? [20:48] not been registered AFAIK [20:49] LaserJock, i'm working on the list with rich [20:49] we'll register them soon [20:49] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Education/UDS-Boston/ActionItems [20:51] LaserJock, only bug 117568 even though i'm not sure bug 135904 is related [20:52] hmmm [20:52] ogra: What's your title with Canonical? [20:52] * ogra looks for ubotu [20:52] ogra: blogging [20:53] ogra: ubotu's been dying lately [20:56] * LaserJock is afk for a while, leave a message ;-) [20:57] ogra: What's Colin's official title? (feel free to make one up) [20:59] dtrask, which colin ? [20:59] watson ? [21:02] LaserJock: I'm updating to gutsy on the laptop now. Want me to dig into the Xaos bug after that? [21:05] sbalneav: you were still running feisty ? don't like running devel release and all the funny things you have with it ? (like no more X, broken kernel, ...) :) [21:18] stgraber: heh, well, I'm gutsy at work and at home, but my laptop seems to have been left behind. [21:32] I did an upgrade to gutsy from Feisty....broke too many things....little things, but enough to force me to do a clean install [21:32] Now everything works fine...except for the #$!%$#2! battery monitor! [21:33] Know issue with this System76 lappy, but no one knows how to fix yet [22:55] Hello, anyone available? [22:56] Hello, anyone available? [23:24] indeed [23:26] Hello? [23:26] cmonkey: Hello? [23:26] hello... [23:27] Know much about USB flash drives plugged into thin-clients connected to Edubuntu server (Gutsy)? [23:27] nope, but ask your question, so someone can see eventually and perhaps answer it [23:28] OK: [23:28] I'm running Edubuntu server (Gutsy) ... [23:28] Used to run Feisty ... had 19 clients connecting fine before [23:28] Now have a problem with local devices connected to the client ... [23:28] Only the first client connected gets access to local devices - the rest don't [23:28] Neither the user logging in, nor the client being used has any bearing upon this ... [23:28] It's whoever logs in first, has access - the remainder don't ... any ideas what this could be? [23:31] BTW: sbalneav and ogra helped me get access to local devices a couple of days back but I didn't realise at the time that the solution was only working for one client at a time!
