ZylogueI have a question about mozilla applicaitons and the use of rsync as a backup/restore tool...basically to test for DR purposes, I rsynced my /home to my server.  I re-installed gutsy, and rsynced back.  installed tbird and then tbird would not run.  is there a better way of doing this?  is there an option in tbird to 'import' that older information?05:03
Zyloguedo I need to have installed and run tbird once, before rsyncing back?05:04
tonyyarussoZylogue: Thunderbird should just take your old profile dir - I just backup my .mozilla-thunderbird and paste it into new installations before the first run of TB05:09
tonyyarussoso, should work05:09
tonyyarussoyou might want to try the -P option05:09
Zyloguetonyyarusso, Thanks.  I will give the -p a try.  I'm just testing.  I want to get fully away from MS, and need to have a good backup soluiton in place.  I like hte difference between rsync for backup versus tarballs, as only the changes get moved.05:11
gnomefreakUbulette: how is the new addon "installer" or download manager whatever its called08:14
gnomefreakmorning asac08:15
=== asac_ is now known as asac
gnomefreakwell bad news is disabling the reply-to-list-support patch doesnt fix this. I would love to know how icedove was fixed since they dont have the patch08:25
gnomefreakmight have the reason08:28
gnomefreakasac: it looks like the patch you applied in icedove per debian bug 381273 is not the same as our patch, here is both patches from top to line 277 is our patch and lines 281 to the end is debians (they look different to me but it might just be me08:33
ubotuDebian bug 381273 in thunderbird "thunderbird: Please apply patch to allow list replies" [Wishlist,Fixed] http://bugs.debian.org/38127308:33
gnomefreakwth is the quilt command to use a patch added to debian/patches and debian/patches/series08:48
gnomefreaknone of the commands im using are adding that patch08:49
gnomefreakasac: if you do tbird today please take patch from debian bug 381273 and try it. it looks differnet than ours09:21

gnomefreaktonyyarusso: it used to but we will see10:14
tonyyarussognomefreak: it did?  When?10:14
gnomefreaktonyyarusso: pre 2.0 final with our patch10:15
tonyyarussoah10:15
gnomefreaksome reason the patches failed to work after final release10:15
asacgnomefreak: you can reuse the remove binonly script14:07
asacUbulette: so what would be needed to make seamonkey work with xul-1.9?14:07
asacis there an upstream bug tracking this?14:07
asacreply to list extension 0.3 is out btw14:29
asac(maybe old news though)14:35
gnomefreakasac: i know its out im waiting on email to test with new profile. asac the issue with the script is where do i run it from how do i rename package version to right version ect.16:05
gnomefreak!aptfix16:12
ubotuIf an APT front-end crashed and your database is locked, try this in a !terminal: « sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock;sudo dpkg --configure -a »16:12
gnomefreakreply to list 3.0 seems to work here (i dont know why its crashing for the user16:14
gnomefreakjust replied to kubuntu-users post using it so if it worked than i guess closing that bug is a good idea but im not sure why it fails for all but me, i removed icedove and i moved ~/.mozilla-thunderbird and started clean to test it16:23

gnomefreakbluekuja: what do you mean?17:52
bluekujaand pushed it inside new u-r17:53
gnomefreakbluekuja: yes17:53
gnomefreakthe only thng that differs is the changelog its not really gutsys deb dir.17:54
gnomefreakbluekuja: i used my bzr branch as always17:54
bluekujagnomefreak, yes, but everything should be the same as gutsy version17:54
bluekujayou cannot change stuff without documenting it17:54
gnomefreakright17:54
gnomefreakchangelog was only thing that needed change17:54
gnomefreakbluekuja: i did document everything17:55
gnomefreakbluekuja: the changelog should say upstream security release and the autoconf update17:55
bluekujaI see17:55
bluekujanew upstream release17:55
bluekujaand a patch update17:55
gnomefreakyes that should have been it17:56
bluekujadebian/patches/99_configure.dpatch: Updated for new release17:56
gnomefreakyep17:56
bluekujaso those are the only changes17:56
bluekujayou did17:56
gnomefreakyes and the changelog17:56
bluekujayes17:56
gnomefreakthats all17:56
bluekujaasac: small question17:56
bluekujaasac: does a gutsy-security changelog entry17:56
gnomefreakits been pushed already17:57
bluekujashould be in hardy too?17:57
bluekujagnomefreak, yes, seen17:57
gnomefreaki dont see an issue with it, since they were both rom same branch17:57
gnomefreakbluekuja: you mix debian and ubuntu changes why not gutsy and hardy17:57
bluekujagnomefreak, yes17:57
bluekujagnomefreak, but gutsy-security17:58
bluekujais another repo17:58
bluekujanot hardy17:58
bluekujaor gutsy17:58

gnomefreakhow was it published on 2007-10-18?17:59
bluekujagnomefreak, nope18:00
gnomefreakif needed i can remove the gutsy-securoty changelog entry but it shouldnt cause an issue afaik18:00
bluekujahttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/iceape18:01
bluekujaiceape 1.1.4-1ubuntu2 is in hardy18:02
gnomefreakyes18:02
gnomefreaksince it hasnt been pushed yet that is expected im just reading your published comments above18:02
bluekujaiceape (1.1.4-1ubuntu3) gutsy; urgency=low18:02
bluekujacan you merge it in one entry?18:02
gnomefreakbluekuja: not really18:03
gnomefreakubuntu3 was never pushed18:03
gnomefreakremember i wanted to get it in but it was too late (after waiting of asac to push18:03
bluekujaso this should be a two-revisions upload18:03
gnomefreaki guess i should have combined the changes in ubuntu3 to 1.1.5 build18:03
bluekujaatm, we cannot upload it to gutsy18:04
gnomefreakits not going to gutsy18:04
bluekuja-1ubuntu318:04
bluekujaso, you should merge it18:04
gnomefreakthe changes for ubuntu3 were never pushed18:04
bluekujawith the hardy entry18:04
bluekujayes18:04
bluekujaI know18:04
gnomefreakbluekuja: thats what i said i should do :)18:04

bluekujagreat18:05
gnomefreakbluekuja: those changes will never make it in gutsy18:05
bluekujayea18:05
gnomefreakbluekuja: you want gutsys changelog entry taken out? the -security one18:05
bluekujagnomefreak, I don't see it on REVU18:05
bluekujabut only on lp18:05
bluekujawhich is correct18:05
bluekujahttp://revu.tauware.de/revu1-incoming/iceape-0710270320/iceape-1.1.5/debian/changelog18:06

asac:(18:21
bluekujaasac: :918:23
bluekuja*:)18:23
bluekujaasac: did you read my small question before?18:23
asacprobably not :)18:25
bluekujahehe18:25
bluekujaasac: should I include a gutsy-security changelog's entry18:25
bluekujainside the whole changelog?18:25
bluekujaor not?18:26
asacfor which package/update?18:27
asaciceape for hardy or what?18:27
bluekujayep18:28
bluekujaiceape for hardy18:28
asaclook how i did it for firefox18:29
asacsince i merged the changes done for guts security update the changelog entry is there as well18:30
bluekujayep18:30
bluekujahttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/firefox/+changelog18:30
asacand yes ... in that case you should include the gutsy-security changelog entries in .changes as well18:30
bluekujagnomefreak, include gutsy-security as well18:30
bluekujain the changelog18:30
* asac hoping that i really did that 18:30
asac:)18:30
gnomefreaki saw18:30

bluekujagnomefreak, lol18:31
bluekujagnomefreak, sorry, told it too late18:31
bluekujabut I wanted to ask to alex18:31
bluekujato be sure of it18:31
Ubulettehi18:31
Ubulette<asac> Ubulette: so what would be needed to make seamonkey work with xul-1.9?18:32
Ubulette<asac> is there an upstream bug tracking this?18:32
Ubuletteasac, 1st: fix the ftbfs in mailnews/addrbook, then see what's next :P18:33
bluekujaasac: bittorrent mail sent18:33
bluekujaasac: package built today18:33
bluekujaoff for dinner18:34
gnomefreakbluekuja: ill ping you when uploaded18:34
gnomefreaki have to run out this afternoon sometime18:34
gnomefreakasac: having fun in boston?18:34
* gnomefreak makes mental note to not build in debian dir18:41
gnomefreakalthough it does grab tarball from ftp.mozilla18:41
Ubulette:)18:42
gnomefreakbluekuja: uploading to revu im assuming it should be same link you already have.) im heading out for a while18:48
gnomefreakbluekuja: http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=438 just in case. bbl18:49
asacUbulette: ok i will try to talk to some seamonkey devs about seamonkey with xulrunner and whats the idea19:08
asacmaybe there are blog entries about that?19:08
asacUbulette: http://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey:suiterunner19:09
Ubuletteyep, i've read that page. my understanding is that it's still in progress but maybe i'm wrong19:12
Ubuletteasac, it seems there's no more -dev in seamonkey 219:16
Ubulettenor any need for it19:18
Ubulettei guess that expected as it's a task for xul19:20
Ubulettemozilla bug 39923319:37
ubotuMozilla bug 399233 in Phishing Protection "Phishing UI hidden by content, inconsistent with malware" [Normal,Resolved: fixed] http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39923319:37
asacUbulette: wheneverf there are application specific components - read .idl files - there is a need for -dev19:38
Ubulettethere's no such thing in dist19:39
Ubulettejust usr/bin and usr/lib19:39
Ubuletteno include/idl anywhere in dist19:39
asachmmm ... are there no .idl files in mailnews/ hierarcdhy?19:40
asacotherwise you cannot write any mailnews specific extensions19:40
Ubulettehmm, i mean, in debian/tmp19:40
Ubulettedist has them19:40
asacsame for thunderbird ... without the mail/ specific idls you won't be able to build engigmail for instance19:40
asacyeah ... but thats a bug in the build system then19:41
Ubulettewhy not use xulrunner-1.9-dev ?19:41
asacwhy? because those are no toolkit componentes?19:42
asacjust think about thunderbird as an independent application ... the fact that it resides in the same CVS doesn't make a difference19:42
asacso xulrunner doesn't know anything about mail/19:43
Ubuletteseamonkey 2 is just a xul app according to suiterunner specs19:43
asacnor about browser/ ... and all other application specific things19:43
asacUbulette: yes ...but that doesn't make a difference ... a xul app can stil have interfaces to extend the application itself19:44
asacevenmike understood this at some point :)19:44
asacso being a xul app doesn't conflictwith being extensible through native components ... and those might even want to provide -dev package as well ... and so on and on19:45
Ubulettehe said: "It is recommended that you use libxul-dev instead, if possible."19:48
bluekujagnomefreak, I'm going to read then I move to sleep, I'll take care of it tomorrow19:51
bluekujagnomefreak, gonna ping you when I start doing it19:51
Ubulettebluekuja, you're in italy right ?19:52
bluekujaUbulette, yes19:52

bluekujaUbulette, lol, as I said I'm going to read my new python book19:52
bluekujabefore sleeping19:52
Ubulettei usually fall asleep after half of page of such books ;)19:53
bluekujalol19:53
bluekujaI read something like 20-30 pages19:53
bluekujaper night19:53
bluekujait's a huge book19:54
bluekuja^^19:54
Ubulettewhat's your goal ? be a python guru and work for canonical ? :)19:54
bluekujalol19:55
bluekujaI love python language and would start to develop my own application19:55
bluekujaplus tons of packages are not python-related19:55
bluekujaso having a good base of python will help me19:55
Ubuletteoh, ok. good luck then :)19:56
bluekuja*are19:56
bluekuja(why I added that "the"?)19:56
