notskyHello.13:52
jribhi13:52
jrib"I just plugged my ntfs drives in and voila, there it was."13:53
notskyYep13:53
jribnotsky: where?13:53
notskyPlaces-> Computer.13:53
jribthen go there13:53
jriband click on your drive13:53
notskyyeah?13:53
notskywhat next?13:54
jribnow show hidden files and investigate any .Trash* directories13:54
notskyAh!13:55
notskyI see it now13:55
notskyThanks13:55
notskyWonder why I can't see it from Places->drive though. Security feature?13:56
jribit should be in your Trash if you deleted it with your user13:56
notskySo basically I accessed it as a super-user then eh?13:57
jribif you deleted it as super-user, then yes13:58
notskyProbably. I had to input my password when I accessed the drives. But then again I couldn't see the drives(from Places) before that. Just "Computer"13:58
notskyOh, and my DVD-drive.13:58
jribwell you can setup permissions on the ntfs partitions14:00
jrib!ntfs-3g14:00
ubotuntfs-3g is a Linux driver which allows read/write access to NTFS partitions. Installation instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MountingWindowsPartitions14:00
jribhave you run ntfs-config like in that link?14:00
notskyNope14:01
notskyI just installed ubuntu 7.10 today(around 5AM if I'm not wrong)14:01
notskyI had a few problems with installation(and getting the livecd/dvd) to run, but ultimately I fixed it....(though I still have a bootloader in one of my other drives... weirdly enough)14:02
notskyOriginally I had all my drives plugged in(ubuntu's livedvd thing didn't detect my boot drive properly so it installed the bootloader in the wrong drive), had problems with bootup, decided to unplug the other drives, reinstall and then plug 'em back in. It automagically detected those drives and mounted them..14:04
notskyso well, I think it doesn't automount the drives now, but auto-detects them or something, such that when I double click on them (in "Computer") they auto-mount. Real nice.14:06
jribuse ntfs-config14:09
jribnotsky:14:10
notsky?14:11
jribuse ntfs-config if you want the drives to be automounted14:11
notskyjrib, I have a similar issue. This time I experimented by right clicking and clicking "send to trash" When I clicked the "Trash" folder I noticed it was not there14:35
notskyerr14:36
notskyforget it14:36
notskyI keep forgetting to check "Show hidden files"14:36
notskyThanks again14:36
