oldmanstansomerville32: that was a pretty humorous help request and response above ^02:54
somerville32lol02:55
oldmanstansomerville32: i like the idea of a xubuntu help browser, so long as it doesn't take a crazy amount of time/effort, which i don't think it will02:59
oldmanstanlet me know if you guys need any help on it02:59
somerville32Awesome :)03:01
posingaspopularhey all04:33
posingaspopularim trying to start writing the basic commands for xubuntu hardy. so far, i have 'man' 'sudo' 'ls' 'pwd' 'cd' and 'ifconfig'/'dhclient04:38
posingaspopularanything else?04:38
somerville32posingaspopular, We're have a basic commands section?04:43
posingaspopulari could have sworn....04:44
posingaspopularor else i was mapping out docs in my head all day for no reason04:44
somerville32As long as we aren't expecting anyone to use them :P04:45
posingaspopularhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/Xubuntu/Documentation/HardyAssignments04:47
posingaspopularbasic commands04:47
somerville32It should be nothing more than an appendix at best.04:47
posingaspopularummm.... okay....04:48
somerville32We should strive to make it so that users don't even have to touch the cli04:48
posingaspopularsomerville32: im really bad at this docs thing by the way04:48
somerville32posingaspopular, No you're not :P04:48
oldmanstansomerville32: the ubuntu docs have a CLI section, we just duplicated it04:57
somerville32oldmanstan, Okay. Are we trying to maintain a minimum delta or is there no point to that now?04:57
oldmanstanyeah, imho we should try to change as little as possible, at least in areas where that's feasible04:58
oldmanstani mean, obviously there are significant software packages that xubuntu doesn't ship by default that k/ubuntu do, so in those areas we should probably just forget about trying to stay parallel04:59
somerville32oldmanstan, So why do we need to write our own basic commands now?05:00
somerville32Can't we mirror what ubuntu has?05:00
somerville32And is it a full chapter in Ubuntu?05:00
oldmanstanyeah, when i made that table i basically just copied the old one, but for certain things we can probably specify that the goal for a section is just to keep up with the ubuntu changes (and fix them where they don't work for us)05:01
oldmanstanit's a full chapter yeah, i was a bit surprised myself when i saw it, amazingly it was also had quite a few bugs, haha, you'd think a bunch of nerds could write a command line guide05:02
somerville32lol05:05
somerville32It wouldn't require much hacking to make it an appendix instead05:05
posingaspopularoldmanstan: the level 400 classes in communication for web design teach HTML and then go into DTD.05:05
