ubotuNew bug: #172821 in xorg-server (main) "[hardy] only get 800x600 in vmware" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/17282115:10
tjaaltonwhee, new kernel. I wonder if it'll be used for alpha117:56
=== seb128_ is now known as seb128
tjaaltonprobably not, since it would need lrm also18:03
seb128no it'll not18:05
seb128it has been source NEWed so it can build but it'll not been binary newed18:05
seb128alpha1 is supposed to be today so it's late to get a linux update ;-)18:06
tjaaltonthat's what I thought :)18:09
mvobryce, tjaalton: should I file a bugreport about a file-overwrite problem on dapper->hardy for fix the missing replaces myself and just upload (libx11-data overwrites stuff in libx11-6)18:17
tjaaltonmvo: is it just a Replaces: libx11-6 for -data?18:20
mvotjaalton: Replaces: libx11-6 (<< something approriate) (in -data)18:23
mvotjaalton: the version depends on in what version the files moved of course18:23
tjaaltonright18:23
tjaaltonjcristau: could that ^^ be committed to git?18:24
mvosomewhere in 1.0.3 it seems but the changelog is not very clear18:25
tjaaltonwhat files were moved?18:26
mvotjaalton: http://paste.ubuntu.com/2359/18:28
mvotjaalton: and more, it goes on like this for some pages :)18:28
mvothis is dapper->hardy18:28
mvooh, and failsafe X fails to start for me in hardy, if that is not known I can report that too18:29
mvoerror in line 4718:29
mvoof failsafeXServer18:30
* mvo needs food18:30
bryceyeah report that if there's not already a bug on it18:40
tjaaltonmvo: oh, that change has been there before, but was lost due to a sync18:43
* tjaalton runs18:43
tjaaltonReplaces: libx11-6 (<= 2:1.0.0-1)18:45
tjaaltonI don't think it would be a problem to commit that in debian-unstable18:46
tjaaltonsince there already are similar fixes that should be reverted when hardy releases18:46
mvotjaalton: ok, thanks. it would be cool that could be done18:47
tjaaltonmvo: is it needed for alpha1?18:48
tjaaltonmaybe too late already18:48
tjaaltonmvo: change pushed20:10
ubotuNew bug: #31211 in xserver-xorg-video-nv (main) "Dapper: Xorg (nv) takes all CPU% when running tvtime" [Low,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/3121121:50
mvotjaalton: thanks for the quick fix :) ! its not needed for alpha121:52
ubotuNew bug: #44389 in xserver-xorg-video-nv (main) "X crashes after a few days of usage" [Medium,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/4438921:56
ubotuNew bug: #172569 in xserver-xorg-video-intel (universe) "Wine couses logout when starting exe file in 64-bit Gutsy" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/17256921:56
tjaaltonmvo: ok, thanks. It'll get in hardy when the new libx11 is uploaded to unstable (which should be soonish)22:00
mvook, that should be fine. the update-manager GUI that can do dapper->hardy is not finished anyway22:01
mvocurrently all that works is a non-interactive upgrader that is great for testing22:01
mvobut not so great for anything else :)22:01

bryceheya tjaalton23:07
brycetjaalton: I've been working on tormod's script quite a bit23:07
bryceone issue I've run into though is that when the debian tree is merged onto the xorg tree for a package, there's various merge conflicts23:08
bryceI went through all the conflicts for xorg-server and did them manually - in all cases I just accepted xorg's versions of things over debian23:08
brycebut I'm wondering, is there a way to force the git-pull command to prefer the xorg versions over debian, and merge things more automatically?23:09
ubotuNew bug: #164434 in x11-xserver-utils (main) "package should build depends on x11proto-xf86misc-dev" [Medium,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/16443423:10
tjaaltonbryce: I really don't know23:18
brycehm23:19
tjaaltonbryce: what about patches? do you disable them completely? that's another source of conflicts ;)23:20
brycewell, the good news is I've updated tormod's script to also work with all the X libs and protos and such23:20
bryceyeah I added an option to just drop all patches23:20
bryceit's working ok for some packages - http://bryceharrington.org/files/xpkg.out23:21
bryceI gather the successful packages are ones with no changes to merge (ho hum)23:24
tjaaltonI haven't had time to look at the script yet23:25
tjaaltonmaybe the conflicts are due to autoreconf23:27
brycecould be yeah23:27
bryceI wonder if we should set up a git repo for these tools23:28
tjaaltonfor the script?23:30
tjaaltonwhy not23:30
ubotuNew bug: #36359 in xorg (main) "i2c hangs Thinkpad T21 (Dapper)" [Low,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/3635923:30
tjaaltonok, I'm tired.. good night!23:31
