rledge21okay, thanks00:56
kgoetzi'd suggest a channel for <your desktop environment>00:57

somerville32The new version is _way_ too slow for my old beast01:57
j1mcoldmanstan: you there?02:07
oldmanstanno02:08
oldmanstanwait, yes i am02:08
j1mccan i email you an xml doc file for you to see if it validates on your computer?02:08
oldmanstansure thing02:08
j1mci tried a ulink insteal of an xref to fix a validation issue - it works on my computer, but i want to make sure it works on someone else's.02:08
j1mci don't want my directory structure to be something messes things up.02:09
oldmanstango fo it02:09
j1mcsent.  thanks, george.02:12
oldmanstanhmm02:15
oldmanstani get a bunch of external entity errors02:16
j1mcreally??02:16
oldmanstanbut it's not in the right place in the tree so that's prolly why02:16
j1mcon what lines.02:16
j1mcwhat is not in the right place in the tree?02:16
oldmanstanlines 1 and 5, so yeah, it's prolly cuz i didn't stick it in the tree structure02:17
oldmanstani just put it in a random directory and validated it02:17
j1mcah, ok.02:17
j1mc/xubuntu/switching/C/installing.xml02:17
j1mci don't think that the validator actually validates a ulink.02:18
j1mcafter all, for it to do so, it would have to go out to a website to make sure the website were there.02:18
j1mcso as long as the ulink is correct in syntax, it will validate.  (i think)02:19
oldmanstanyep, stuck it in the right place and it validates peachy02:19
j1mcok.  i'll load it into yelp, and see if clicking on the link brings me to the dualboot page.02:20
j1mcif it doesn't, then i'll have to fix stuff.  otherwise, i should be ok.  thanks, oldmanstan02:20
oldmanstanno prob02:20
oldmanstanglad to see somebody getting stuff done :)02:20

j1mci can't get the link to work.02:28
oldmanstanweird, does it work but not connect? or just totally not work?02:28
j1mcit says the uri is invalid, even though the path is valid.02:30
j1mc(i've modified it since i sent it to you)02:30
oldmanstanstrange02:30

bogey-what what up, bogey in da house!>!>20:22
sommermdke: I brought up updating doc.u.c at the server meeting... didn't get much love though21:32
sommermdke: just an fyi... thanks for your help with that.21:32
mdkesommer: cheers, every little helps. I'm stressing the sysadmins22:52
mdkesommer: do you want to investigate the question of how to convert docbook to txt or man/info pages for the serverguide? I looked into it and found that it's not as easy as I thought22:53
mdkesommer: about the best way was to generate html and then run it through "lynx -dump" to get a text file, but it's pretty ugly22:53
mdkesommer: there are various docbook2man tools around but I didn't succeed in getting to grips with why they didn't work22:54
* mdke drifts off again22:55
